Galco's Old World Grocery

500+ sodas. It's a family owned market when you can find any soda that was ever made. It's in the Highland Park area.

I originally heard about this place from an episode of Huell Howser's "California's Gold," so I made the pilgrimage. So much fun to wander aisles upon aisles of obscure, regional soda pops. I'm not even a soda drinker, but I had to purchase a few of the more unique ones, which could be made into stellar cocktails! They also have a great selection of hard-to-find candy. There's a deli counter here, too, if you're hankering for a sandwich.

This place is a great place. I am always having some trouble about my financial activities and this place really helped me to straighten things out.

I like the French dipped sandwich and the Blockbuster, but the lady that makes them never smiles. I feel intimidated to order a sandwich. There not as good as Phillipe's(located near Olvera St.), but they are okay. The counter is pretty empty. There's not a large variety of side orders or cold cuts. They do have a huge amount and variety of old time sodas!
