Dental Examination

X-rays

Teeth Cleaning
The American Dental Association recommends a visit to your dentist every six months for regular checkups and routine teeth cleanings to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Patients with active periodontal disease may have a need more frequent visits.
Fluoride Treatment
At this stage, treatments at the dental clinic may include cleanings and checkups, fluoride treatments, and application of tooth sealants.
Dental Sealants
The most common area for children to get decay (like most adults) is on their permanent back teeth (molars). The molars have very deep grooves and pits on the chewing surfaces. This is where food and bacteria hide and form cavities. No matter how well your child brushes, it is nearly impossible to remove all of the bacteria.

Fillings
Resin Composite
White fillings are done most all of the time in our office. They are an attractive, durable alternative to silver (amalgam) fillings. White fillings are made of a strong composite resin that is matched to the surrounding tooth color.
Veneers
Veneers are custom, porcelain facings that are bonded to the front surfaces of teeth to whiten teeth, close spaces, straighten teeth, or repair chipped or worn teeth. The veneers are only about 1 mm thick (the thickness of a fingernail). That same thickness is “shaved” off the natural tooth surface so when the veneer is bonded to the tooth, the tooth doesn’t feel or look “thicker”.
Crowns
Crowns are a cosmetic restoration used to strengthen a tooth or improve its shape. Crowns are most often used for teeth that are broken, worn, or partially destroyed by tooth decay.
Bridges
A dental bridge may be used to replace missing teeth, help maintain the shape of your face, and alleviate stress on your bite.

Root Canal Treatment

Periodontal Surgery

This is a common non-surgical treatment for periodontal disease. By using special instruments, we remove bacteria and infection from the unhealthy deep pockets around the teeth below the gum line. This is often referred to as a “ deep cleaning “.

Dentures
These are used when you have multiple missing teeth. There are partial dentures which are used when missing some teeth and a full denture is when missing all teeth.

During this examination, we will determine what the best course of action to take would be, whether that is tooth extraction or root canal treatment. If you need to have the affected tooth extracted, we can recommend different tooth replacement options for you to choose from.
Bone Grafting
When a tooth needs to be removed due to infection, it is not uncommon to have lost bone around the infected tooth. In these cases, various types of bone grafting can be done at the same time the tooth is removed to facilitate the placement of a dental implant at a later date.

General Dentistry
Dr. Bailey was born and raised in a small town in Michigan where she has been involved in the dental field since the 8th grade. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science from Central Michigan University and then went on to dental school at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. After graduating she went on to complete a one-year residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Ultimately, she decided to move back to Michigan to be closer to her family.
