I will be upfront and say I was on the opposing side to Mr. Van Horn; however, the behavior, tactics and process delays are just the facts. Unfortunately, this family law attorney does not adhere to the principles he espouses. While he used the right “Christian-ease” in our first meeting, it became very clear that his words would not match his practice. Rather than focusing on getting to a reasonable position, Mr. Van Horn focused on extreme proposals that were not financially reasonable and outside the formulas drawn up for such things. In spite of being presented with factual data that disproved a position, he continued to twist information and misrepresent facts in order to achieve his goal.

At the end of the day, the court lowered the maintenance, kept the retirement at my proposed amount, and split house proceeds equally (he stubbornly refused to lower his request from 85%). Unfortunately my spouse paid 5-6 times more in attorney costs because of her attorney’s practices.
