I previously took my 2 dogs to Dr. Barnard for many years. On one occasion, I was concerned about one of my dogs, so I dropped her off at this clinic in the morning and by the later afternoon the doctor had still not seen her. Given that it was getting late and the doctor was still not yet able to look at her, and I did not know if she might need diagnostic testing that only a full service veterinary clinic could provide, (Belleview West is not a full service clinic and on a couple occasions, Dr. Barnard himself instructed me to take my dogs to a full service clinic) I explained to the staff that I wanted to pick my dog up and take her to a full service facility just in case.... and before the work day ended. So that is what I did. My dog ended up getting diagnosed with bone cancer in her hip area. I contacted Dr. Barnard's office and told them the bad news . They said Dr. Barnard would call me. I did not hear from him, so I called again and spoke with his wife who assured me that Dr. Barnard had received my message and would call me. It's a good thing I wasn't holding my breath. Dr. Barnard NEVER called me. This dog treated with him from the time she was a puppy until she got diagnosed at 9 years old. It was devastating and so hurtful that this doctor never called me back. I always felt that the doctor must have gotten angry that I picked my dog up that afternoon and took her somewhere else where she would get seen immediately. It was so sad that I had to have her put down at the cancer specialists office, rather than at Belleview West. Needless to say, I never took my other dog back to Dr. Barnard, and I will never take any dog to him ever again.

Dr Barnard is the best! He has/had taken care of two of my cats and four of my dogs. I have never had a problem getting an appointment or receiving a call back from Dr B no matter the time or day. I usually bring all of my dogs at one time for their exams and shots, and he is patient with my millions of questions for each of them. If I have an issue that needs to be addressed immediately and he is out of town, he tells me exactly where I can get the best treatment. The ONLY time we ever waited for an extended period of time waiting for Dr B to come in the room was when a dog was hit by a car and it was a life or death situation. And all of the while we were waiting, a member of his staff would come in to make sure we were doing ok, apologize for the delay and offered to reschedule the appointment if my fur babies were getting restless. If someone doesn't want to have any patience or understanding if there is an delay or emergency, then they should find a different place to go....but, as for me, if one of my fur babies was in a life or death situation, I wouldn't take them anywhere else, and I would hope that the people who had appointments and were waiting for the doctor would understand and be thankful that it wasn't their fur baby in that life or death situation.

When it was time to let my sick cat end his suffering, Dr B opened his office so that my fur baby didn't need to suffer for even one more minute. He allowed me the time I needed to say goodbye and even waited for my husband to get there afterward so he could say goodbye too. I have taken my fur babies to different vets before BWAH and I will never go anywhere else! If you want a vet who will care for your pet like it was part of their family, then Dr B and his staff doesn't come any better!

We have been going to BWAH for 24 years so even prior to Dr. Barnard taking over the practice. We would not take our cats anywhere else. Dr. Barnard is a skilled and professional vet. At the same time he handles the animals with tender loving care. As soon as he walks into the room he loves on the animals to put them at ease and is also doing an exam at the same time. He never rushes. He listens well. He instills confidence. The staff at BWAH, especially Rhonda and Destiny, are always professional, courteous, efficient, and caring. Don't hesitate for a moment about taking your animals to BWAH.
