Booker Arts Magnet School, originally known as Booker Junior High School, was built in 1963. Booker Arts Magnet School became an elementary school in 1982 and since then has been enrolling students in kindergarten through grade five. The school is affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, Arkansas Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Department of Education Communications Office. The school s faculty includes more than 50 certified personnel and consists of curriculum specialists, counselors, reading specialists, visual arts specialists, drama specialists and a speech and language pathologist, special education resource specialist and literacy coach. Located in Little Rock, Ark., Booker Arts Magnet School's support staff includes office secretaries, instructional aides, custodians and cafeteria personnel.
