Modern Warrior

I have been training at Modern Warrior for a little over three years now. This self-defense school is completely unique, in that it focuses on training for realistic fighting scenarios rather than tournament-style fighting. There are no mirrors. You keep your shoes on. You don't call anyone "sensei".



Instead, you learn effective techniques and strategies for dealing with an attacker on the street. They have lots of ways of making this as realistic as possible, because are you really likely to be attacked in a well-lit space with padded floors? We practice in tight enclosed spaces, in rooms with foam furniture, in the rain/snow/wind in the Environmental Simulator room, and much more. We also do a lot of work with blindfolds on, to rely less on our eyesight and more on how something *feels* in a fight.



Modern Warrior also offers a number of one-time and short-term classes on specific topics like gun defense, instinct development, and women's self-defense. I came into the school myself on an 8-Week Female Self Defense class, and never left.
