Uptown Hounds is the best thing that ever happened to Icie. Except for the day I found her by the side of the road when she was 8 weeks old. They are professional and caring and very well run. Icie never looks back when I drop her off for daycare. She comes home happy and tired because she is still very young and loves to run and play with her friends. I recommend Uptown Hounds with no reservations. They were instrumental in helping me socialize Icie and providing a great outlet for a high energy girl when she was a pup. I would not hesitate to leave her in the kennel if needed. The staff genuinely cares about your pet. After two years I am pleased at how many of the same folks are there. They must love what they do. It is also convenient to have a vet and groomer on site if needed.

I have been taking my girl Icie to daycare at Uptown Hounds for 1and a half years. The staff members are kind, professional and competent. They love what they do. When I drop Icie off she can't wait to go back to see her friends. The benefits of Uptown's daycare include socialization and great exercise. I have to admit they helped me handle a high energy puppy by giving her the exercise she needed. The facility is lovely and is kept spotless. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate all that they offer. If I ever need overnight care I would definitely use their kennel. J.Arvin

Uptown Hounds is a very clean, loving environment for dogs of all sizes. My two Great Danes LOVE the staff as well as going there for a random daycare visit once or twice a week. The employees are always so affectionate to each and every dog. It's evident they enjoy what they're doing which greatly benefits the well-being of our furry best friends. The one and only thing I would like to see changed is a discount offered for multiple pets. Paying full price for two dogs is quite costly for me so it prevents me from daycare fun year-round. I utilize the daycare facilities through the cold months only and revert to dog park visits everyday. I wish the facility would review and change this one and only policy. Thanks, Uptown, for the great love and care you provide my two Danes, Kaiser and Klaus!

Uptown Hounds is perfect for my dogs. They love going there because the staff all treat them as if they are their own pets. This is a first class facility with first class staff!

I have used this facility for daycare and have always been happy with their service. I boarded my dog for 5 days with the option for daycare on a few of the days he was there. A day after his pick up he was diagnosed with kennel cough. My dog is very well taken care of, stay at home, only dog who does not attend ANY outside activity besides Uptown Hounds Daycare. I called left a message the day of his diagnosis. No response until I called the second time. The manager called me a basically said that it wasn't their fault and they were not responsible. So basically, I paid 380$ to UH plus another 100$ to my vet for my dog to pick up a disease from UP!!!! So disappointed and very angry with this facility. Shame on them! I understand these things happen, but when you go to McDonald and order a Big Mac and they accidentally give you a quarter pounder, they don't blame Burger King and tell you it was a possibility that your order could get messed up....they fix it! They give you your Big Mac....so basically, I can get better customer service at McDonald's!!!! I'm super sad that this was handled his way and I wouldn't recommend taking your pet there due to the fact that it's "possible" they can get kennel cough and you get to pay them for your dog getting it from their facility! Horrible resolution and terrible customer service!

Large Breeds should avoid! And please don't give them your money if you want to support dog-related businesses that work to decrease the ridiculous stereotyping of breeds

After seeing the vets (LOVE them) at this location and boarding my dog for a weekend a few months ago, I thought it was time to start using the daycare services. I had set-up the behavior evaluation on a few different occasions, but finally made it in this morning. I was shocked when I was turned away for evaluation day. I'd been speaking with workers for 6 MONTHS about coming in, why would someone wait till today to tell me my dog would not even get in the door because of his breed (HALF his breed, at that!)? Why would a company who is dog-conscious string me along for 6 months? Why would this same company be dog-racist and stereotype my dog before seeing how dog-social he is? We even passed an employee who remembered him from his boarding weekend and commented on how much of a sweetheart shy guy he was! And tell me why another employee tells me there is a nasty aggressive golden retriever that hasn't been rejected... but there will be no blacklisting of the goldies?! No, because dogs should be assessed as individuals and not as a breed/race/ethnicity. I can't even believe I have to spell this out!

"All dogs, including pit bulls, are individuals. Treating them as such, providing them with the care, training and supervision they require, and judging them by their actions and not by their DNA or their physical appearance is the best way to ensure that dogs and people can continue to share safe and happy lives together." Position Statement on Pit Bulls: www.aspca.org

Also, check out the 10 most aggressive dogs report http://www.dognotebook.com/top-10-most-aggressive-small-dog-breeds-in-the-world/2/

You want to help the "issue with pit bulls"? Stop rejecting them on breed and get yourself and others to address these ridiculous biases! Needless to say, we will not be coming back here and we are, sadly, even considering canceling with the vet we love only because I know my money will be going towards the facility as a whole. :(

Overall
I took my afghan hound to this...

I took my afghan hound to this business several times in the last 2 years without any problems and even did training through this company. However, last Spring, I had my dog boarded while I went on a trip to Seattle for about 5 days. He had a few small mats on his neck, legs and stomach, so I asked the groomer there to work through them, telling her that if she had to shave the mats, I was alright with starting over in those spots. I returned on Monday to find them still not done with grooming him, so I waited an extra day to pick him up. When I came for him on Tuesday, I found my dog shaved bald all over and I don't just mean that his fur was shorter, he was shaved to the skin and even had some open sores from being nicked by the razor. Even areas that could not mat like his beard, tail and whiskers had been shaved to the skin, and all without informing me or talking to me about this drastic decision. The most sickening part is that I talked to the groomer on the phone on Monday while she was shaving him, she just told me she was finishing up with his grooming but she never mentioned that she was hacking off all of his fur. I was so taken by surprise on their decision, that I told them that they had brought the wrong dog when they initially brought him out. My boyfriend called later the same day to complain and was told that after the owner and groomer (who were not there at the time) were contacted, we would be called by the business but they never returned our call. Now, I am filing a BBB complaint and Uptown Hounds employees seem unable to tell the truth. One employee, the manager, states that I told them that shaving my show dog was "for the best" (he wasn't even in the room during the conversation!) and the man who answered the phone when we called to complain is stating that he told us to call him back later but never received a reply, which makes no sense given the situation. Making a mistake is one thing, but in my opinion, the true businesses to watch out for are the ones that refuse to admit that a mistake was made on their part.

****EDIT**** Throughout the BBB dispute, this business refused to admit that they had made any mistake. After it had ended, I figured I would post reviews to warn other customers to be careful of this business and get on with my life. However, today (several months later) I received a threat in the mail from this company. They have asked me to remove my reviews and are threatening to try to get me jail time for telling others about what they did to my dog. I have lost all respect for this company and am starting to wonder if they have been successful in hushing bad reviews in the past in this bullying manner. I personally would never consider trusting them with the care of a family member again.
