Gilligan's Waterfront Restaurant and Bar

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Lewes. Actually, all the restaurants in Lewes are terrific. The earlier review was totally surprising and not reflective of my experience there many times at lunch or dinner. I have found the staff pleasant and helpful. Their crab cakes are the best! The interior gives one a feeling of the pleasant aspects of Key West while the exterior deck part is totally pleasant for enjoyable waterfront dining.

My wife and I went to Gilligan's for lunch on Oct 11, 2009 at 2:45 pm. The waitress was also the greeter. To greet us would be an out right fib. She was rude to the person in front for being a walk in and acted like she was doing us a favor. After 10 minutes she walked us to the outside deck and said here you go. Expecting us to sit in the shade on a dirty plastic table. When my wife stated that she would like to sit in the sun. The waitress replied (rather abruptly) that the seat in the corner is reserved and that is what you get. So we just got up and left. I have been a local in the Rehoboth Beach and Lewes area for almost thirty years. Whatever the reason for her attitude (whether they need the business or not) it was just not right to treat anyone that way. I am really suprised that a dilapitated boat, with no fire exit and rotted wood floors would be allowed to serve the public. I am sure that the boat is rodent infested within the walls as the boat sits empty all winter.
