Silk Road Afghan Cuisine

We all four went there to eat, first of all it took them too long to fix a table for us, and we expected to receive a fine service. We ordered beef kabob and one combo including two kids meals, We did not like the taste of the meat and it was not tender enough. Service was Ok...It was not worth to go there and spend too much money and eat just ordinary Aghani food. We went there after reading some good reviews, it was confusing to figure out exactly about the food. But now, when we have tried it, I regret about not listening bad reviews about them as well.

I had a chance to go to the Silk Road Afghan Cuisine many times as my palate was simply delighted by the food.



I was impressed the first time I entered in the restaurant because I was used to fast Afghan Food. It was the first time that I entered a very formal Afghan restaurant. I received a warm welcome the first time and every time I went there. The staff is very courteous and I would say pretty quick in serving the food. I can't say that I like one food more than the other. I had a chance to try from appetizers to the lamb and chicken dishes to the vegetable dishes to the desert and everything was excellent. My taste bud was very pleased each time and if it were only me I will go every day.



I would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who would like to give it a try. It's really a worthy experience.



I like the convenience of its location as it's not too far from where I lived but I also invited my friends from Alexandria, and Reston who have come just to try the food that I have been bragging so much about it and they loved it and they are planning to go back.



I can only say to the Management and staff to keep up the good work.

Good Food, Good Service, and they really give you a lot for your money both in service and food portions. The place to go with your significant other and let it become your favorite meeting place. The wine list they have chosen goes perfectly with all the wonderful dishes.

The food at this place was not as good as I was expecting. Although the bread was fresh, the kabob dish that we ordered was bland. The other side dishes were not any better. The only positive thing that I could think about this place was the location. You can walk around the town center and enjoy an ice cream or a drink from the shop next door.

I went their out of curiosity and now I have become one of their regular customers. My kids love this place. I think that the service they provide is outstanding. The food is fresh and mouth-watering . I am a vegetarian and they really go out of their way to please their customers. I go their with my family all the time and the menu they have for kids is very good because the kids have a choice of fries and nuggets or they can have gourmet Afghan food. Very classy place.

I have never had Afghan food before and based on numerous recommendations from friends and co-workers I decided to give the Silk Road a try. I took my family there for my daughters birthday, we were a party of seven. I must say it was AMAZING! I always like to give credit where credit is due and these folks deserve A LOT of credit. Washington Post did a review on them and they weren’t kidding when they said that Silk Road leads to an Authentic Afghan Treat because it was really a beautiful treat. First of all we were extremely impressed with the décor and design of the Restaurant. We were greeted promptly at the door and were lead to our table. I am glad that we made reservations because they were packed. We had a three course meal and every dish that was presented was scrumptious. They really know what they are doing and the way they present the food is like fine art work. I did try the beef kabob and for the price I paid I got a lot of food. The kabobs were very moist and tender and the rice was aromatic. For the same price they put on your plate a generous portions of side dishes like spinach and these baked potatoes that I am hooked on. I could not believe the freshness of the food. We got our first course in ten minutes and the rest of our meal came one after another. I had many questions and my server was very patient and knowledgeable about the food. Very friendly and attentive to all our needs. By the way I did also go to Dulles Mall and tried the food their and I must say to each his own. I am not one to struggle and eat my food in a food court with plastic cutlery and fight with my plate to cut the very tough meat which I placed in the trash. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! FIVE STARS!

Four of us went to the Silk Road and all four were very pleased. The food was very good and plentiful. Two people had vegetarian dishes and one had the beef kabob and one had the ground beef kabob. The service was very good and friendly; they kept the water and tea glasses full. We ordered appetizers which came within 10 minutes or ordering and the main courses came within 10-15 minutes of ordering. We will definitely go back.

After being to many other Afghan restaurants, the food (I ordered beef kabob ��� didn���t have much choice) at this place seemed very mediocre and bland. I would agree with the other review that the service was very bad and our server was very unprofessional. At $17.95 for beef kabob (4 pieces of meat with some rice and side vegetables), this place seems pricey and not worth the amount they are charging. You are better off going to Dulles Mall food court for better afghan food.

My family and I went to this place after hearing about it in the Washington Post. First and foremost, if you are planning to go there with your family - DON'T. This is not a family restaurant and does not have any real menu options for small children with the exception of 3 or 4 choices, among them hot dog and macaroni and cheese. We ordered six dishes for adults and it took them close to 2 hours, yes - 2 HOURS, to get our food to our table. When I inquired about the delay, the owner indicated that they don't expect "large" parties or orders to be prepared any sooner. Instead of apologizing about the delay, the owner indicated that being a FINE restaurant, this kind of delay should be expected. With kids or no kids, having to wait for 2 hours for six dishes is not my idea of fine cuisine. Even the restroom was out of toilet paper and the staff did not seem to care about it. For the kind of prices they charge for this kind of service, you can have much better food elsewhere.
