What a shifty operation... they appear to prey on people ignorant about leases, tenants rights, landlord rights, etc.

Although my wife and I have perfect credit, are white collar professionals, and actually own a home in the very neighborhood we were looking to rent in, this "Steve" character abruptly ended our lease-signing when I questioned him (politely, mind you) about some areas of the lease. First, the lease was just plain wrong, they wrote it up as a two year and not a 1 year, which is what we were looking for. Secondly, they didn't even document the house features correctly and had to be corrected that there was an alarm and a microwave. Finally, I had an issue with his added-on, last page stipulation that, upon move-out, if the "house smells like smoking the deposit is forfeit". At which point I couldn't help but wonder... how exactly do you document a smell? And who exactly would be doing the smelling? Basically it boiled down to - a year from now, someone I don't know will decide what the house smells like, and they'll keep or return the deposit depending on that opinion. I told him I was having a difficult time signing a piece of paper that made 1400 dollars of my money rely on some stranger's sense of smell a year from now... and he basically came off like he couldn't believe someone actually questioned him. His entire demeanor is one of a used car salesman. Once he decided that he wasn't leasing to us, he even made snarky comments about our 2 year old, saying that "he wasn't running a day care". (The two year old was acting like a two year old, and as a courtesy, my wife took him outside as to not disrupt the proceedings. Apparently that wasn't good enough for the guy.)

After leaving this joke operation we asked around, it turns out this guy's reputation is nothing but negative. His Chinese girlfriend didn't fare much better in the reputation department either.

Total Real Estate of Nevada ripped me off and did the owners of the house I rented NO favors. They deducted money from my security deposit for repairs, cleaning and replacement items that were never done. i.e. they charged my $80 for shower heads they did not replace nor were they in need of it. They charged me to trim trees that were not trimmed. They charged me for a great many things totaling $1112.00 dollars that were totally bogus! On top of that, they refuse to walk into the property with me and disprove my accusations. I have all the proof I need and the owners of the house on my side as well, regardless of their efforts to stonewall me:) Says a lot when the owners back me, wouldn't you say? Total Real Estate and Steve Marlis refuse to refund a rent over payment to me, even though he was sent copies of the certified checks and it is clearly logged on the front page of my lease. He says it is an accounting/computer software mistake and the over payment never existed...well my cashiers checks and the lease sure do. I am 100% positive the judge will see what I see...BEWARE before you do any business with this company. They literally stole nearly $1400.00 dollars from me and my kids and that is not a matter of interpretation.

I feel totally scammed out of ...

I feel totally scammed out of my money. They take multiple applications for the same place at the same time and doesn't tell anyone. So then even if you are approved you don't get to move in because they go with one of the others and you can't get your fees back.

As a property management company Total Real Estate of Nevada represents the property owner. The application process goes as follows: 1. We accept applications and charge a processing fee. 2. A Credit and Background check is run (which costs money) 3. We verify rental history. If more than one application is received the applicant is advised that they are competing against other applications. This process takes time and costs money therefore application fees cannot be refunded. We than present our findings to the property owner for final approval. The owner chooses the strongest qualified applicant.
