India Oven

We waited 40 minutes to be seated --- and that is actually a good sign that the place is popular. We ordered food and waited with keen anticipation. Slightly dismayed at a sign that any child over 5 years will be charged full prce for their buffet. The Paneer Pakoras arrived --- 5 pieces in all (for $6.50!). OK. My wife and I grabbed a piece each and put our teeth into it. It was well-spiced and warm outside --- but inside it was hard and stone-cold. They obviously prepare their food ages ago, even pakoras (appetizers), store it in the freezer and reheat it on being ordered by a guest. In my case, they had obviously just dropped these from the freezer into hot oil (not even a microwave) and since it was a busy evening, they pulled it out too quickly and the cat was out of the bag. We called the owner and he started expressing total surprise. So I broke another piece and put his finger on the inside paneer, and then he stopped arguing -- it really was hard and stone cold. Still we were being tolerant. But the culminating piece of ridicule was they took it away and brought back a plate of THREE, not SIX pieces. They were clearly telling us, that we had somehow either swallowed or spit out two pieces and broken one, so they only got back three reusable (reheatable) pieces, so that is what they just reheated a little more and brought them right back. Not a trace of shame or pride. We walked out, and still not a word of "sorry."



Now the oil bath in which they re-re-heated food from our plate is obviously used to deep fy all other items too, for everyone. Free exchange of saliva? With so much obvious contempt for customers, I wouldn't be least surprised. Nexct time, order Paneer Pakoras then surprise them by asking you would love to see how they make them in their kitchen. You will find I am completely right!!
