Shady Oak Farms

I wish I had read the below review before contacting this business. The individual running this business never returned phone calls or emails to the point that I had to physically go to the farm to confirm she could speak at an engagement. That should have been my warning to find another speaker. She did confirm (she looked me in the eye when she did it) she would be there. Retta did not show up nor call to cancel so I cannot recommend anyone doing business with this farm.

We visited this farm on May 3 and picked just shy of 20 pounds of blueberries we were short on cash and used a credit card to purchase. The sale went through and said approved but they couldn't print and told us we would have to pay in cash. Having worked as a retail mgr for years I explained once the sale has an approval that the customer had been charged regardless of whether they had a paper slip. They refused to even call merchant support to confirm or verify the state of the sale. We were told IF it did go through we could call and they would refund the transaction. My experience proved to be correct and we were in fact charged both on the credit card and also by the cash we had to pay to get the desired blueberries. When Shady Oaks was contacted about the charge they DENIED it and insisted on receipts to prove we had been overcharged. While we are able to provide the bank statement, they do not give receipts for cash. They are very disreputable DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! Give your money to other farms whom do not have questionable practices. You have a choice with whom you do business, make the knowledgeable one!
