Established in 1999, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission protects and manages natural resources to provide recreational opportunities. It also offers training classes related to the development of safety skills for hunters and boaters. The commission provides information on topics related to conservation, fish and wildlife habitats and protected species. It also offers a variety of leisure activities, such as bird watching, boating, hunting and fishing. The commission, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, provides homeland security. It also offers habitat management programs for land and marine species. It has partnerships with government organizations and fish and wildlife management and research institutions. It is funded through hunting and fishing license fees revenues, stamp taxes, and grants and donations. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission maintains a location in Lakeland, Fla.
