Today’s scientific composite resins and porcelain systems give us an artist’s palette of materials to restore teeth. Gone are the days where a chunk of silver or gold was our only choice. Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is performed as a way to save a tooth that has an irreversibly damaged pulp/nerve. The most common causes of tooth pulp damage are a cavity, a crack, or a traumatic blow. Deep Cleaning
Periodontal disease is an insidious process, which results in the loss of the supporting gum and bone tissue around teeth. It is silent in its progression, and is caused primarily by an inflammatory response to plaque and tartar build-up under the gumline. Regular dental visits are important to allow early diagnosis, because regaining lost supporting tissues is unpredictable at best. The first phase of treatment for periodontal disease involves numbing the area with local anesthesia and meticulously removing all tartar. Re-evaluation after this “deep cleaning” treatment may reveal the need for additional periodontal surgical procedures. If further periodontal treatment is necessary, Dr. Thompson will advise you, and handle your referral to a trusted periodontal specialist.
