Dr. Shew and his staff have been caring for our pets for many years. He is an excellent Vet!!!!

Dr. Shew at KS Animal Hosp almost killed my kitten. I took him in because he was coughing and sneezing and felt hot. I do not claim to be a doctor but I have been around cats long enough to know when they do not feel good. I took Wendell in who was around 3-4 months at the time. I told Dr. Shew that he probably caught an upper resp infection from my other cat who he is around a lot and that he probably has a fever. He did a little blood work to rule out the major diseases (ie feline lukemia) and then recommended he give him vaccines. I asked him did he really think it was okay to give him vaccines when he isn't feeling good and he said he thought it would be fine. I asked the doctor to take Wendell's temperature BEFORE HE GAVE HIM THE VACCINES. He took my kitten to the back without my wanting him to, gave him vaccines, and brought him back. I asked what his temperature was and he told me that HE HAD NOT CHECKED THE TEMPERATURE. I insisted he check his temperature and it turned out, I was right. Wendell had a 103.2 temperature. The doctor ASSURED me the vaccines wouldnt hurt him.



For the next year, I spent close to 1000 dollars on Wendell in vet bills. He got EXTREMELY sick with a very bad infection in his lungs and chest. He could not breathe without holding his mouth as open as it would go, you could see him sweating and feel his fever, at one time he had a 105.5 fever. I went to THREE different vets with him and they ALL told me it was DIRECTLY due to Dr. Shew giving him vaccines. I called KS Animal Hosp a few times to tell them about this and they DID NOT apologize, refund any money, nor did Dr Shew EVER contact me to apologize.



I will never go back to this moron and hope he loses his license.
