Step By Step is a private, nonprofit corporation that provides community support services to children and adults with mental retardation and autism. Established in 1977, it serves more than 1,500 clients in over 10 counties in Pennsylvania. The organization offers various rehabilitative services to children between the ages of 2 and 21. Step By Step provides temporary housing options to individuals with mental illnesses who need support staff to learn independent living skills. It offers a day options program that includes a variety of recreational and leisure activities. The organization operates a drop-in center that organizes presentations by guest speakers, dances, parties, self-help discussions and social activities.
