Emergency Care
Central Virginia Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine has two state of the art facilities conveniently located in Fredericksburg and Stafford, VA. Each office has fully equipped and staffed x-ray department. Additionally, we offer a Physical Therapy department at both locations. The Physical Therapy Department has the latest equipment and a fully trained staff of therapists who specialize in sports medicine and rehabilitation as well as work hardening programs. Our office offers same day appointments for emergency care and non-emergency care within 24-48 hours.

This hip replacement treatment option is designed to relieve the pain caused by joint degeneration due to arthritis. With the new MAKOplasty system, CVOSM can offer patients a personalized surgical experience tailored to their individual alignment. Using a CT scan, the surgeon uses a 3D model of the hip to design an individualized surgical plan. The robotic arm allows the surgeon to achieve precise alignment with the implants, less cutting and drilling of the bone, and less soft tissue involvement. This leads to decreased pain and swelling after surgery, allowing the patient to experience a faster and easier recovery. Patients are also experiencing a shorter length of stay in the hospital and decreased need for opiate analgesics.

The fibers beam light into a joint and projects a picture to a special camera, allowing our orthopedics center's experts to diagnose, treat, or repair ligaments-particularly for arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery. Orthopedic trauma is a branch of orthopedic surgery specializing in problems related to the bones, joints and soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments) of the musculoskeletal system following trauma. Arthroscopy
Dr. Nicholas Harding, a New York native, earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M and subsequently received his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center school of medicine. Dr. Harding did an internship in Greenville, S.C. Dr. Harding completed his Orthopedic residency as chief resident at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. This training was very intense training in Total Joint Arthroplasty, Geriatric and Pediatric Orthopedic surgery. These areas continue to be areas of special interest. Dr. Harding's Fellowship was in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine. Dr. Harding has over 18 years' experience as an attending Orthopedic Surgeon, including; at a level one teaching trauma center, team doctor for Collage and High School teams, Orthopedic Department Chair and Chair at surgical center. Dr. Harding has published several papers and presented at national orthopedic meetings. He has been recognized as one of America's top Orthopedic Surgeons for over 7 years. Dr. Harding's focus is on complete Orthopedic care with special interests in total joint arthroplasty, geriatric care, pediatric orthopedics, diseases of the shoulder, arthroscopic surgery, fracture care and sports medicine.

She continued her education journey at Virginia Commonwealth University where she completed her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy in 2021. Shelby has a passion for Orthopedic Occupational Therapy, with specific skills and interests in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. In her free time, Shelby enjoys exercising, reading, attending sporting events, and spending time with her family.

Alex grew up in the small town of DuBois, Pennsylvania. The son of a physical therapist, he has been around the field his entire life and knew from an early age that he would pursue a career in it. Alex attended Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he received his undergraduate degree In Sports and Exercise Science as well as his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. He has worked in the outpatient orthopedic setting since graduation and has a strong interest in manual therapy, fitness, and sports rehabilitation. Outside of the workplace, Alex enjoys traveling with his wife, running, reading, and watching soccer.
