Definitely a five-star restaurant both by curb appeal with the cheery bright flowers which may be geraniums or other blossoms. Once inside, the hostess acknowledges reservations for prepared tables and there are times that unexpected visitors may also find a table available.



The menu is varied: appetizers are appealing; salads are crisp; soups are smooth textures, if creamed, vegetables are fresh, and condiments are enhancing; bread and butter are served with the meal and the entree is prepared as one requests when ordering it.



Ambience is apparent with decor and atmosphere is inviting whether for a table on the patio, if desired; a small banquet room for a small party or a larger room for a large party. Anna, who is gracious and charming, may mingle among guests to determine if the food is prepared as requested; the wait staff is well-trained to note serving courses as guest is ready for each one, and to keep an eye on beverage containers, regarding refilling as needed.



Anna is a fastidious and warm, friendly hostess and Romeo takes great personal pride in his preparation of meals of European tradition,served to please guests. The desserts are decadent and satisfying.



Kernville is a unique settlement, atop high desert and east from Bakersfield through a gorge that is spectacular and scenic with each change of season. One should plan to visit That's Italian and not be rushed but enjoy both atmosphere and palatable food.



The local people know where the good food is served and where one may relax and feel comfortable taking out of town guests or just enjoying food from the menu or one of serveral specials. One of the plusses is the food is always consistent and never disappointing.



Having lived in Kernville two years, we were never disappointed even once and never heard a complaint from any guest whether locally or out of town visitors. What better recommendation than that could a restaurant have and maintain that five star rating! And, by enjoying Sunday brunches, dinner in the evenings, Friday nights for membership gatherings, we probably have tried most of the entrees.
