awesome loved it!!! Thai Food Rules!!!

I seen this place so I thought I'd giver a try. Now since I'm a po-dunk mid-westerner I usually like my chinese food on the milder side but shazam!!! I tell ya what thems Thai folks sure can cook up some good grub!!!!! I sure am glad I didn't spend my combo meal money at mac donalds. 7 buck sure can go alittle further there and my arteries don't feel as clogged after. I did read the first review and I think that snobby little spoon feed idiot doesnt know squat. Keep buying your 6 dollar mocha latte cappocinos crap from starbucks. Cuz them Thai folk don't need your kind anyhow. Loved the food Thai House. Keep it coming!!!!! I love the spices!!!! My tastebuds have had an orgasmic relelation!!! New lover of Thai Cuisine Geez I just wish there was more Thai Restuarants us midwesterns need to be cultured in authentic cuisines. God knows theres enough burger joints. Take a look at your waistline prolly from super sizing them fries!!!

Overall
More "Why?" than "Thai!"

My husband took me to Thai House for lunch recently.

Upon entering the foyer, I was assailed by a less-than-fresh seafood smell, but the restaurant did look clean and tastefully decorated, so I persevered.

The dining room, while very large, does have a sense of intimacy because of the varied levels and columns, which visually divide the space. The decor of the space is tasteful - subdued colors, elephant-motif borders on walls and columns, and an attractive crystal chandelier in the center.

However, the table decor left a lot to be desired - every single table was graced (?) with a vase of dead flowers. And I do mean they had expired LONG AGO. THey were all dessicated and dried up, and were cheerlessly dropping dead petals on the table top.

Our server arrived, and we ordered Pad Thai and Green Curry.

Lunch specials come with soup or salad.

My salad was just iceberg lettuce swimming in a sea of dressing - some kind of buttermilk concoction, I think.

My husband's soup was a tiny cup of clear-ish broth with a lonely piece of scallion floating in it.

In the pause between courses, I raised my paper napkin to my lips, only to be jarred by a strong smell of toilet deoderizer. You know those nasty strong-smelling deoderant cakes some places hang in the toilet bowl? THAT was the smell. It was so strong, it burned my nose. UGH. PLEASE, THAI HOUSE, STORE YOUR NAPKINS SOMEHWERE ELSE, NOT NEXT TO THE TOILET SUPPLIES. GROSS.

Our entrees arrived.

Mine, Green Curry with chicken, was barely adequate. I was expecting the nice clean sweet/spicy taste of basil. I couldn't really detect that, or indeed much of any of the ingredients. The dish was chicken in a coconut milk sauce. There was supposed to be green pepper and eggplant in the dish, but I had a hard time finding either one. I believe I found one piece of green pepper and about three tiny chunks of eggplant! The ingredients were very skimpy and carelessly put together. There was no taste of any of the typical Thai seasonings - very bland.

I didn't try my husband's Pad Thai - the seafood odor did not bode well. But he said it was just okay - once again, bland, which is an unusual assessment in a Thai restaurant.

Once we received our entrees, service was pretty non-existent. There was a young man taking down a Christmas tree (in the middle of January.) and he startled me at one point by shouting across the (huge) room to us "Is everything okay?" I guess that was the one attempt at "attentive" service. However, he must not have had his binoculars with him, or he could have seen that our drinks needed refilling. Humph.

In summary, I would not recomment this restaurant.

Their attention to details in service and food leave a lot to be desired.
