Motel 6

We reserved a room in September 2018 for 3 days to evacuate from Hurricane Florence. We specifically selected Motel 6 because they were “pet friendly”. After driving 3 hours with anxious dogs to get there we pulled into a dirt driveway next to major construction on I-85. Ok, a little noisy. I went in to get our key and was greeted by a young girl who was flirting with an elderly gentleman asking him to give them a 5 star review. After watching this for about 5 minutes she finally turned her attention to me. I asked for a room on the lower floor and was told they only had our room on the second floor. I paid for the room and was given the key. My husband and I walked upstairs, opened the door and was greeted by the most disgusting sight. Two beds in the room stained brown and completely unmade, garbage and dirt all over the floor, filthy sinks and overflowing garbage, an unknown substance smeared all over the walls. I wanted to cry—after driving all the way to avoid a hurricane it looked like it beat us there! I went back downstairs and handed the key back the manager and told her we would not be staying there. She tried to blame her cleaning crew and then tried to offer us another room—after previously telling me they had none!!! As a manager she should have known the condition of that room before giving us the key. She reassured us we would not be charged and we left. Thank God we had family nearby and stayed with them. This Motel needs to be shut down or at least Motel 6 needs to dissociate itself from this place. Instead of keeping the light on, they need to shut it off. Disgusting!!
