Food okay. Management despicable.

It is unfortunate that in a town this cultured, so many people celebrate Givanni's. The name of the place is the result of a typo, for heaven's sake! Food is severely overpriced and, according to insiders, not as fresh as advertised. Your money would be better spent at Basta...or Domino's for that matter.

Givanni's was my favorite place I chose to eat at while in Iowa City for the week. I was in town for work and found this restaurant while browsing yp.com. To start I ordered the sausage appetizer. It was amazing and actually large enough for 2-4 people. The sausage is made by Givanni's and then covered in marinara, red peppers, and mozzarella cheese, served with garlic toast. I then ordered the roasted half chicken served with great mashed potatoes and the largest asparagus I have ever seen, and it was amazing as well, and the portion was large. I was extremely pleased with this restaurant. The atmosphere is great as well. Will recommend to anyone and everyone but it is not a budget restaurant so don't expect to get off cheap.
