Prostate Cancer
Cancer imaging remains a core business focus, as IIC is currently the only metastatic cancer imaging PET/CT facility located between Cedars, UCLA, Torrance, Downey, and Downtown Los Angeles – and I am excited to announce we have expanded our PET/CT imaging to Saturdays. We also added exam innovations by adding targeted radiopharmaceuticals for prostate cancer (called Axumim) and somatostatin receptor-positive neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) (called Netspot ). There are some drawbacks however, the radiopharmaceuticals are very expensive, up to $5,500 for the isotope alone and scanning day restrictions, but the clinal images are very helpful in guiding accurate care pathways for physicians.
Lung Cancer
Chest X-rays can be used by doctors to monitor your progress to the chest area after surgery. Doctors can check that any implants are in the correct place, and can ensure that no air leaks or fluid accumulation are observed.

An Ultrasound is a diagnostic tool that uses sound waves (versus radiation) to look at your body using “probes” on your body. Some common ultrasound exams are used for breast lumps, thyroid, prostate, gallbladder, pregnancy, and evaluate blood flow in your arteries and aortic valve.

Mammography
Tracking & Reporting: IIC’s robust IT includes a modernization of mammography patient tracking and reporting software used to help schedule, coordinate, track and report exams findings and follow-ups.
Computed Tomography
A CT scanner transmits throughout the human body a series of narrow straps as it moves through an arch. The distinction is that an X-ray system just carries one laser. The CT scan offers a final snapshot that is more accurate than an X-ray. Thousands of varying degrees of depth can be seen from the CT scanner. In a solid organ, it can see tissues.

Orthopedics
IIC also has a special connection with several specialists, so we looked to add MRI features to help improve referring physician practices with modern features not typically found in Southern California. For example, in orthopedics, there is a new software feature called “MARS” (metal artifact reduction software), which was added to our purchase agreement to help solve metal artifacts for orthopedists with metal implant issues. We also brought software for Nephrologists (non-contrast “contrast” MRA’s ), urologists (Multiparametric prostate), Neurologists (advanced diffusion, SWI ), Internists (small parts software), etc. Remarkable technology!

Lesions
Your doctor can use an MRI to diagnose lesions, such as a tear on your knee or broken rotator’s tendon in your arm, instead of an X-ray. MRIs can often indicate minor fractures or bone contusions that may not be visible on an X-ray that is also used for diagnosing fractured hips. And RMNs are a good tool to look at back injuries as both the backbone and the spinal cord are seen by doctors.
