A common reason for a decreased appetite in pets is an infection or underlying diseases, like diabetes, cancer, or hyperthyroidism. The Neighborhood Veterinarian uses advanced technology to monitor your pet under anesthesia as well as manual methods. A pulsoximeter and ECG will show your pets oxygenation, heart rate, heart rhythm, and respiration rate. A Veterinary assistant will manually check heart rate and respiration rate. Your pet will receive continuous care from the moment he arrives in the hospital to his release at the end of the day. The glass doors of the Intensive Care Unit allow the doctor and staff to monitor your pet throughout the day, but the ICU also allows your pet a quiet, safe place to recover from anesthesia.

Along with obesity, dental disease is a leading (and preventable) illness that takes the lives of far too many pets far too early. From a young age, Dr. Jaime knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. Her family moved to the US from England when she was young. She grew up with horses and initially was interested in equine medicine before transitioning to a love of small animal medicine in veterinary school. Her clinical interests include cardiology, endocrine diseases, and wound management.

The Neighborhood Veterinarian recommends a routine set of blood tests to check for any internal changes in your pet. Diet, Nutrition, and exercise will also change as your pet ages. This tiny device has a massive impact! Microchipped dogs are 2.5 times more likely to reunite with their families and cats with microchips are 20 times more likely to come home.

Annie graduated from Purdue University in 1998 with a degree in Aquatic Sciences. Her love for fresh water fish changed to companion animals when she took her first job in the bacteriology department at The Animal Disease Diagnostic Lab at Purdue. Another career change came with a move to Indianapolis where she started as a Veterinary Assistant for Dr. Sue. Over the last several years Annie has become a familiar face to the clients of The Neighborhood Vet. She oversees many of the daily responsibilities of the staff as well as a direct contact for client communications. Annie has a soft spot for puppy behavior and senior pet wellness.
