Overall
Great kennel!

I was happy to see the location of the kennel was on a small farm. The land is fenced and the dogs are allowed to play outside with the other dogs for no extra charge! Yes, they might come home a little messy after a few days of fun on the farm, but they do have a tub to bathe them for a reasonable fee. I was just fed up with other boarding facilities charging for every little thing (snacks, playtime, etc). I also love being able to see my pup on Facebook. They post pictures while you are away, so you can see how much fun they are having. Mary Jo's rates are so reasonable that I can't imagine going anywhere else! I do understand the other review about her rates. It is the only thing I somewhat agree with. It is a little strange the way they charge. Just clarify when you set up the reservation so you aren't surprised. Her rates and the care really are worth it- and it's still less than anywhere else that I have found.

Please tell them Jen R. sent you!

I loved the care my dog received from MJ and her staff. We left our pup from a Thursday-Sunday and the prices were quite reasonable. Our dog did come homewet and a bit muddy, but what would you expect? They have a large yard with a pond for swimming in the back. We were happy to know that he was able to play the whole time he wasthere, unlike other places that leave your dog in a kennel the entire time. Taking him homeand giving him a quick bath was fine with me. Did i mention that he was pooped for the next day or two?

Thank you C and C!

Overall
Very Bad Customer Service

I brought my dog to this "kennel" on recommendation of my boyfriend's coworker. It was actually in a woman's home, which, my boyfriend said, was extremely dirty. That didn't bother me so much as the condition my dog came home in.

Cotton, my wheaten terrier, was so dirty, smelly and wet (she had been in their pond that morning) when we picked her up that it was revolting to turn around and give her attention in the car. When we got home, we didn't even feel comfortable letting her loose in our home before bringing her directly to the bath. At that point, she had so much stuff stuck on her that we had to cut out chunks of her fur. Her bed and her toys were also dirty and smelled horribly.

On another note, we dropped the dog off on Friday afternoon and picked her up on Sunday morning. However, the owner charged us for 3 days and then gave us "a break" and took a few dollars off because it wasn't quite 3 days. Cotton was there less than 48 hours!

After we got home and bathed Cotton, I wrote the owner, Mary Jo Chiklis, an email saying TWICE that I appreciated how much attention and social time Cotton received at her facility, but I also detailed my disappointments above and offered some conditions for if we were to do future business together. She then called my boyfriend and yelled at him to NEVER TO CALL HER AGAIN.

I have NEVER dealt with a business owner that was so unopen to constructive criticism. She must not be very open to improvement if she deals with it by telling the customer to never return for more business.

This little dog stayed at our facility on one of the rainiest weekends I can remember. Cotton played outside around the pond and had a blast. His owners picked him up almost 3 hours early and were told that Cotton was not ready to go home, he had not had his bath yet and we were at lunch. Nicole stated that was fine, that Cotton was always dirty and not to worry about it. The dog stayed with us for 3 days. The charge for 3 days is $75. These people could barely scrape $60 together. We said that was fine and let it go. When she got home, she started complaining about our services. We refunded all of her money. She then wanted to define her expectations for future boarding and she was told her to PLEASE go somewhere else! Interesting that she doesn't mention the complete refund...if you want free dog care, maybe you should ask friends or family to care for your dog. That was when she began her cyber attack. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with this woman on a regular basis.
