Inconsistent and Excessive Focus on Punishment

All I can say is that if I wasn’t struggling before, I was on the brink of giving up any hope I still had by the end. The staff is often unavailable and for a population of about 70 residents, there are 3 actual counselors (the other staff people working at the co-op are mostly uneducated and of very little help to residents). I was there for ten months- with an initial estimate of leaving to return for university after one month. I left the program because I was physically and sexually abused on their campus. After falling to pieces physically, emotionally, and mentally, without the help of my therapist there (he refused to see me because I was in such bad shape…) or other staff members, I attempted suicide for the first time in my life. The only good thing about that was ending up in a hospital which helped me to find a different, safe, and supportive residential program. Please make sure that, if you so decide to seek help from this place, you are prepared with a strong outside support system. Family members are a large part of the co-op.
