Obstetrics
The team provided a wide variety of anesthesia services and remained on call throughout the storm. The anesthesiologists stepped up to provide leadership and support to the operating room staff and obstetrics department, particularly supporting colleagues who worried about property, family, and friends, and mourned collectively as the reports of devastation rolled in.

Internal Medicine
Anesthesiologists need a wide range of knowledge about medications, internal medicine, how the human body works, and its responses to the stress of surgery. As physicians, anesthesiologists are responsible for administering anesthesia to relieve pain and for managing vital life functions, including breathing, heart rhythm, blood pressure, and brain and kidney functions during surgery.

Neurology
During the first year, anesthesiologists must complete training in diagnosis and treatment in other areas of medicine-such as internal medicine, neurology, obstetrics, pediatrics or surgery-or complete a rotating internship where they spend an equal amount of time training in each of the other areas of medicine. Today's anesthesiologists then spend three intensive years of training in anesthesiology learning the medical and technical aspects of the specialty. In addition, they may further specialize in a subspecialty, such as neurosurgical anesthesiology, by completing one to two more years in a subspecialty training program.

Orthopedics
USAP-Texas (Central) is comprised of 70+ MDs in Austin, Texas, and we’re currently seeking additional anesthesiologists in response to growth. Our cases run the gamut and include everything from outpatient orthopedics to heart transplants.
Joint Replacement
Bundle Compliance vs. LOS: We work with surgical and facility partners to improve operational efficiency. For example, there are more than four dozen different "Enhanced Recovery" or "Perioperative Surgical Home" pathways within different institutions. We lead or participate in ERAS or PSH projects at multiple sites, typically focused on colorectal surgery, total joint replacement, spine surgery, or major urologic procedures. We have documented reductions in length of stay and total cost of care associated with these efforts. These projects have produced documented reductions in cost-per-case and length of stay for our hospital partners.
Neurosurgery
In North Texas, USAP provides service to over 600,000 patients at over 150 facilities each year. We provide service for all types of routine surgical procedures as well as such specialty areas as cardiovascular, obstetrical, neurosurgery, pediatrics, trauma and endoscopic anesthesia.
Reconstructive Surgery
An example of this can be seen in USAP’s support of Florida Hospital's Sharing Smiles program. Sharing Smiles surgical teams are comprised of plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, technicians and other volunteers who travel to select cities in Latin America to provide reconstructive surgery to children suffering from physical and emotional distress caused by facial deformities.

Sports Medicine
USAP-Florida is currently present in north, central and south Florida. We provide a breadth of clinical experience and sub-specialty anesthesiology care from complex cardiothoracic and transplant procedures to cutting-edge neurosurgery, advanced regional anesthesia, pediatric care, labor and delivery procedures and premier orthopedic care for sports medicine and joint replacement.
