This project involved completion of the Public Information Center after initial construction was ceased due the original contractor inability to complete the project. The scope included the acquisition of 3 – Phase power from the local power supplier through a service agreement and easement acquisition, removal and replacement of electrical circuits and panels, casework, cabinetry, plumbing, mechanical (HVAC), painting, and other specialty construction to complete the building that had remained vacant for 2 years. The project involved an accelerated schedule of 180 day to allow for occupancy. Extensive commissioning plan for all areas of the building.
This project included the design-build construction of cemetery expansions to include 2000 in-ground new cremains section and improvements to the existing cemetery, designed to integrate the existing cemetery and roadway systems. Our challenge was to construct the expansion while operating in an active cemetery. The scope of work included landscaping, irrigation, roads, flatwork, electrical, U/G drainage and site furnishings. We worked closely with the owner, both during design and construction phases, to provide a timely and cost- efficient construction project.
Excavation
Primary features of work include approximately 5,500 CY of excavation & onsite fill; installation of 3,700 tons of Grade 1 riprap in the channel bottom, as wedges and typical slope protection, as well as approximately 1,300 tons of 3”x5” for rock mat repairs and rock wedges. Coordinated with Geotechnical Engineer to identify the failure plan to install the 3×5 rock mat at the proper elevation. Channel flow was maintained throughout construction.
Retaining Walls
This project included the construction of parking areas, retaining walls, drainage improvements, irrigation systems, cemetery expansions to include columbarium (4000 niche columbarium complex), 1000 cremains, and improvements to the existing cemetery. This project was designed to integrate the existing cemetery and roadway systems. Our challenge was to construct the expansion, as well as earth moving and niche installation, while operating in an active cemetery. After award, we were requested to provide one section of columbarium niches on an early turn-over basis. We were able to adapt our construction processes to achieve this goal and turned over the section for interments. The new complex was located adjacent to active burial areas. The complex involved the construction of retaining walls and cast in place stairs to overcome sharp elevation changes while maintaining ADA compliance and easy site visitation. The scope of work included landscaping, irrigation, roads, flatwork, and site furnishings. We worked closely with the owner, both during design and construction phases, to provide a timely and cost- efficient construction project.
