The initial encounter seemed very professional and knowledgeable. Shortly after renovation began we were extremely surprised how quickly everything went down the hill. We were given what seemed like a reasonable time frame which turned into almost double of initial deadline given to us. Because of the amount of renovation, we had to move out of our house and find temporary housing. He assured us that in 2 month our upstairs section will be completed and shortly after the lower section. Take in mind we were paying mortgage and rent at the same time. After 2 months, not one room in the house was completed and everything was still gutted. On the 4th month of renting we took control and realized that he was never around to manage the project. After 4 months only 1 bedroom and bathroom was completed for us to stay in. Once we were living in the house we realized what type of chaos was in our home. Zero organization and we had to micromanage everything because Dean was never around. We spend a small fortune on the renovation to receive uneven wood floors, sloppy paint jobs and holes in the floors. Dean told us to order everything (bathroom vanities, light fixtures and other necessities) it turned out that most of them were sitting in the living room covered in dust for another 2 months. Some items that were sitting in dust disappeared which he refused to take responsibility for. His subcontractors were coming in and out of our home. Beware you will have to micromanage every detail of the project because he is never around. He hires cheap laborers with whom he never worked with and they broke and stole stuff from our house.

We stressed to Dean how important it is for our AC system to be thoroughly cleaned because our son has bad asthma. He assured us that he hired individual who been in AC industry for over 10 years and he will clean everything. Our son's asthma did not get better and we had to increase his meds. So we requested another AC HVAC licensed company to come in and look over our system. We told Dean that we are hiring professional company to look over our AC and he seemed agitated. It turned out that our AC system was never cleaned; the coils were black and had layers of dirt. We confronted Dean with a picture that nothing was done and we got no response. He never takes responsibility even when there is a proof with a picture. He emailed us "A Notice of Full Satisfaction and Release" (Gag Order) wanting us to sign it so we will not be able to complain.



The painter that DeanCo Construction using is unskillful, unprofessional and lazy, he painted over manufacturers' tape without cleaning up, he would leave patches unpainted. He would cover rotten wall with paint so no one would find it, without fixing it. When I addressed the issue his reply was "Sometimes it happens". Dean was never around to manage the project so we had to manage everything. We told Dean that we don't want him in our house anymore and he still came back because Dean has no one else to work with. He has only one good subcontractor and if he gets sick the whole project will stop. With us work stopped for 3 weeks because the guy was sick and he had no one else to bring in. After a while Dean stopped answering our emails and texts.

In the Houzz.com he lied that Superintendent was hired to look over a project but subcontractor is not superintendent and every time we would come to the house all the workers were talking on their phones or smoking outside. We didn't know that this is not Dean's full time job, this are his side projects and he is unable to manage properly.



For our family the whole process was pure hell and would not recommend him to anyone. DeanCo Construction is incompetent and a liar, he wrote fake reviews on houzz.com (please look at the dates when reviews were written).
