Dr. Karen Lish is a board certified dermatologist accredited by the American Board of Dermatology. She completed her medical school training at the New York University School of Medicine. She performed her medical internship at New York University, as well. She accomplished her formal training in dermatology at the prestigious New York University Skin and Cancer Unit. There she participated in clinical research studies on Cutaneous T Cell Lymphoma and Mycosis Fungoides. She has published articles in the field of dermatology, and has presented at conferences at both the New York University Department of Dermatology and at the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting. She continues to teach medical students.

Ultraviolet light induces biologic reactions in the skin's cells that decrease the number of skin cells that grow too quickly and kills T-cells in the skin, which can result in the clearing of psoriatic lesions.
Chemical Peels
Many of the at-home cosmetic treatments such as microdermabrasion kits and chemical peel solutions that can be purchased at drug stores can be safe when they have been thoroughly tested for this type of self-use. The concentration of the active ingredients in these products is much lower than that used by dermatologists. Therefore, most at-home treatments do not produce results as dramatic or long-lasting as the cosmetic procedures performed in dermatologists' offices.
