Estes Heating and Cooling

Several weeks after installation of a "new" $5000 HVAC unit, we discovered major problems--namely the filter area. The installation was done incorrectly, and no filter fits the unit correctly. (Or perhaps the unit was faulty from the beginning, but they installed it anyway.) Of course the installer never said a word about this. In fact, I was told that the unit would take a standard filter that could be purchased at local big box stores. He installed one he had cobbled together from our old system, saying I should go purchase the standard size filter in the next few days. When we later went to change the filter he had installed, it had blown out of place and up in to the unit. Basically, the unit had been running all along with no filter. We called Estes that day, and they've been "working" on the problem since. They've said they're ordering a new part for the original (and new) system, but we are still waiting. It's been over 6 weeks. At this point, our "new" $5000 system has been running non-stop with no filter. The coils will need to be cleaned (at what cost?), and who knows if the unit will work properly after that. We've been sold a defective product, misled about it, billed for a new EPA approved system, and Estes has done little to correct the error. Caveat emptor.
