The Heartburn Treatment Center will serve as an extension to augment what is already available. Patients who have particularly severe symptoms, need specialized diagnostics or do not obtain desired relief on medicines will have access to additional avenues to relief through the Center.

Maria Parham's laboratory operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide information critical to patient diagnosis and care. Our laboratory is fully accredited by the Joint Commission. Our services include Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Microbiology, Drug Screening, Blood Bank (Transfusion Services), Pathology and EKG. Our team of approximately 50 laboratory professionals consists of board certified pathologists, certified medical technologists and technicians, an LIS specialist, and certified phlebotomists.

Our maternity services combines an advanced facility with highly skilled staff and a nurturing approach to provide sophisticated and compassionate care.

Gastroenterology
Maria Parham Health's gastroenterology providers conduct treatment, and diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. These services are offered on both an inpatient and an outpatient basis.
Urology
The Surgical Unit is a 12 bed inpatient unit located on the 3rd floor of the patient tower. Our unit is staffed with nurses who are specifically trained for pre and post operative surgical patients. The nursing team in this unit iscomprised of 100% registered nurses and certified nursing assistants with specialties in orthopedics, urology and general surgery. Our surgical unit is there for you before and after your procedure. Our nurses guide you through preparing for surgery and give you the attention needed to recover immediately following your procedure. Our surgical care unit takes pride in treating each patient like family.
Nephrology
The Nephrology & Hypertension providers at Maria Parham Health specialize in the most recent healthcare for people with kidney diseases and high blood pressure. Our providers offer services for every member of your adult family, including comprehensive care in the diagnosis, preventive therapy and treatment for hypertension and kidney disease.
Endoscopy
The Center will offer complete evaluation and diagnostic tools including endoscopy, ambulatory pH monitoring and esophageal manometry. Combined with the latest in medical technology, the Center also will offer patients a minimally invasive surgical procedure. This procedure, requiring only an overnight hospital stay, cures chronic heartburn with a success rate of over 90%. Area surgeons have received specialized training in this specific procedure.

Lung Cancer
Respiratory Care Services at Maria Parham provides comprehensive diagnostic testing and treatment for patients presenting with symptoms related to pulmonary disease, sleep disorders, and neurological disease. Our respiratory therapists are specially trained health care professionals who work under physician’s orders. They provide a wide range of breathing treatments and other services to people with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, AIDS, and other lung or lung-related conditions.

Maria Parham’s 8 bed ICU provides comprehensive and continuous care for critically-ill patients. Our holistic approach to nursing care also involves support for families and significant others. This year, recent upgrades, to our cardiac technology, has allowed us the ability to fully support our Intensive Care team of physicians, nurses and other specialists. Our 2-1 nurse to patient ratio allows our ICU team to deliver comprehensive and totally individualized care to each patient. The ICU nurses specialize in critical care nursing with an emphasis on cardiology, pulmonology, neurology and complex surgical cases. One of Maria Parham Health's newer features is our Maria Parham Health Franklin Facility, which houses a highly comprehensive 11-bed Emergency Department located in Louisburg. This stand-alone ED is fully staffed and equipped to accommodate any emergency situation with speed and efficiency. Our Franklin facility also includes a unique Behavioral Health unit to serve the mental health needs of our area's population. Our Behavioral Health Unit is divided between 20 adult psychiatric units for those between the age of 18 and 55, and a 13-bed geriatric unit for our population over the age of 55. MRI
As a result of the exam, the doctor may ask you to have an X-ray, an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), an arthrogram or an aspiration arthrogram, or a gadolinium scan. These tests will help the doctor make a diagnosis. (If you already have X-rays, please bring them with you)
Radiology
Maria Parham’s screening mammograms are read by the Breast Imaging Radiologists at Wake Radiology. This is a specialized team that is dedicated to breast imaging. The report will then be sent back to your physician after these specialists review the images.
