Diagnosis of cuboid syndrome is often difficult, and it is often misdiagnosed. X-rays, MRIs and CT scans often fail to properly show the cuboid subluxation. Although there isnâ€™t a specific test used to diagnose cuboid syndrome, your podiatrist will usually check if pain is felt while pressing firmly on the cuboid bone of your foot.

Itâ€™s common for those with diabetes to experience neuropathy. Neuropathy is a type of nerve damage that affects the body and can cause you to lose feeling in the feet. If youâ€™re no longer experiencing feeling in your feet and a wound develops, itâ€™s very possible it may go unnoticed if you donâ€™t check your feet daily.

Bunions
A bunion is a bone deformity usually occurring at the base of the big toe. This is a progressive condition that is made worse by inward pressure from tight shoes. Bunions can be very painful, and in some instances surgery may be necessary to remove them.
Ingrown Toenails
Ingrown toenails can form when the side of a toenail begins to grow into the flesh surrounding the nail. As a result, the affected toeâ€”most commonly the big toeâ€”may become red, swollen, painful, andâ€”in severe casesâ€”infected.

Corns and calluses are hard layers of skin that usually form due to friction. Generally, they will be in areas of the foot that are bearing weight, or areas that frequently rub against the shoe. Soft corns are typically found between the toes.

Additionally, it can help to stretch regularly to keep the plantar fascia and surrounding muscles flexible and strong. Early intervention and diligent preventive measures can help alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with plantar fasciitis and promote better foot health. To keep ankles strong and avoid dance injuries, it is important to take good care of them. Ankle problems can make it hard to move and do activities that use the legs. Dancing can be especially tough on ankles because of the energetic moves and jumps often involved. This can lead to issues like Achilles tendonitis, sprains, shin splints, and heel spurs. Pushing too hard can also hurt the ligaments, making ankles less flexible and painful. To prevent this, dancers can follow some good habits for healthy ankles. Warming up before dancing helps the muscles prepare for action. Moving the foot like drawing the alphabet can get blood flowing and make ankles more prepared. Practicing balance by standing on one foot for a minute can make ankles stronger and improve posture. Wearing ankle weights can be helpful for building strength and using ankle supports or braces can reduce pressure and keep ankles steady during dance. Watching oneâ€™s weight is also important because too much can harm the ankles. If you are a dancer and want to maintain the support of your ankles, it is suggested that you make an appointment with a podiatrist to discuss additional methods for good ankle care.

Ingrown Toenails
Treatment for an ingrown toenail will vary on a case by case basis. One form of treatment requires lifting the ingrown nail and placing a splint or piece of cotton underneath. Another method for a more severe case would involve partially removing the nail. For cases that need extreme care, the nail itself and tissue would have to be removed.
