Bring someone who knows about car mechanics before going here. The car we went to look at was listed as having good tires and brakes. We arrived and the longer we looked the worse it got. It wasn't very noticeable in the photos at first but it was clearly in a front-end accident. That wasn't a huge deal, but the bottom trim of the bumper was being held on by a piece of wire. The passenger-side mirror was broken off, which must have happened on the lot, as it looked fine in the pictures. The brakes looked and worked okay so that was probably true, but the tires were clearly NOT GOOD. They had major cracking around the sidewalls and one of the rear tires was drivable but flat. I might chalk it up to thermal change from the cold snap. The front passenger window was down a few inches for who knows how long, but there was about an inch of snow covering the door and seat. The A/C and heat also barely worked. The belts were cracking, so we're not sure how they could say it had a good inspection. The radio didn't work. All of these things alone still wouldn't scare us away as we know what we're getting into buying an older used car. The nail in the coffin was the price. The original listing was $500 higher than the top KBB selling price but the most recent listing it was still $700-800 above the KBB AVERAGE selling price in GOOD condition, but with the heating/cooling issue, it should be evaluated at the FAIR price, $900-1100 below what they were currently asking. Between tires, belts, new radio, new side mirror, and fixing other mechanical issues we would be looking at $700-800 doing most of the work ourselves. We made a low ball offer, but the guy didn't even want to counter. Guess they don't like it when people know what they're talking about.
