Hoover's Station Restaurant

I recently ate at Hoover's Station Restaurant in Hampton, and I was quite surprised to find this Atlanta/Charlotte/Charleston-style restaurant in such a small town! Had a steak and my wife had the seafood platter, and we were amazed at the quality of the food! The owner visited our table and explained that he had always wanted to open a place in a small town, but he wanted to use his experience to make it top-notch. He said that even though they are 'land-locked' they are able to get fresh oysters and scallops, and even Gulf of Mexico shrimp. Hmmmmmm....

Anyway, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, then went into the adjacent lounge (Model T's?) and were doubly surprised by the atmosphere! Again, if we had closed our eyes we could have been in Atlanta or New Orleans! Downhome service, too - well, of course, as it's a small town in the South....

Check it out if you are in the area - we were shocked, to tell you the truth!!!!
