When it came time to pursue her medical education, she traded the Garden State Parkway for sun and sand and attended St. George’s University in Grenada. Her roots ran deep though and she returned home to NJ for residency at NBI, an affiliate of Rutgers University School of Medicine. She has since become a board certified pediatrician with the help, love, and support of her husband, Jason. Since joining the Hackensack Pediatrics family in 2020, her own family has grown by one. Jason and Dr. Mira welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in the summer of 2021.

Primary Care
She earned her nursing degree, and later, a Master of Science in Nursing from the Yale School of Nursing. Caroline is board-certified in Pediatric Primary Care by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB). Before moving to New Jersey, she gained years of invaluable experience working as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for four years at a large, busy practice in Middletown, New York, dividing her time between the newborn nursery at the hospital and the outpatient pediatric office.
Emergency Care
Caroline joined Hackensack Pediatrics in September 2022. She was born and raised in Albany, New York, but spent many weekends in New Jersey as a child visiting her extended family. Caroline graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Geneseo with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She always dreamed of a career in the medical field and volunteered at her local hospital in the Emergency Department during college breaks. This experience sparked her interest in becoming a nurse, so she moved to New Haven, Connecticut, to continue her education.

Dr. Tantawi graduated top of her class from Cairo University School of Medicine; considered one of the most prestigious universities in the middle east. She received her M.D. degree at the age of 23. She completed one year of internship at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia with experience in Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn, Internal Medicine, and Surgery. She then went on to complete her pediatric residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with the honor of being offered the Chief Resident position in only her 3rd year.
