The Pitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center is a 15-plus-bed facility that is part of the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The department operates more than five detention centers throughout North Carolina. Established in 2000, it administers various community programs. The North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention offers court counseling services for at-risk youths. The department also maintains youth development centers, as well as provides work force development education courses. It serves children with special needs. The North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention offers psychological assessment, mentoring, tutoring, and mediation and conflict resolution solutions.
