I was seen by a physician assistant, but my primary care physician expected me to be seen by a doctor. The physician assistant talked to me as if my pain was in my head. She asked when have I last seen my psychiatrist. This visit was displeasing to my daughter and granddaughter that witness this. Then I was told that she was sending me to pain management. Now as she entered my room she said she saw my MRI results. She saw nothing in any spaces or canals that would cause me any issues for a surgery. My question is why are you sending me to pain management when you already believe the pain is in my head. My primary physician was very displeased with the notes she sent him. The pain is terrible to live with so as I reached my vehicle I called leaving a message for my primary physician. I requested to be seen by Duke Medical Neurosurgeon in Raleigh or Durham. I was seen by a Duke neurosurgeon on October 10, 2016. I took a CD of the very same MRI. This doctor also took xrays of different neck positions. He showed me on the xrays and MRI why I am living with this terrible pain. I have complained since November 2015. Now I am scheduled to have surgery to remove bone spurs from C6 and C7 and a metal plate with screws will be placed in these areas where these bones are removed. Why did I have to go to Duke Medical in Raleigh to see and hear why I have been in a year of excruciating pain. As of November 16, 2016, I will be pain free of this right neck pain shooting into the upper arm muscle down into my fingers. Why could I not been treated better at home? Why did I end up getting zero help from ECU Neurosurgery. I am travelling 100 miles away (one way from home to get the help that i should have gotten 12 miles from Farmville. I do recommend that you be seen by a doctor when visiting this office. Do ask to have a neurosurgeon to study your complaints and any xrays you have.
