I brought my dog into Milwaukee Emergency Center For Animals for what I thought was a head or neck injury. My dog was seen by Dr. Lichtenberger who was just fantastic! I had to leave teddy at the hospital for some time that day and was told to give Dr. Lichtenberger a call in a few hours. I was elated to find out that my sweet boy had a muscle strain and that he was going to be fine. I can't say enough good things about the Milwaukee Emergency Center For Animals and Dr. Lichtenberger. Thank you for your passion to help animals.

At this place you really do get what you pay for. Everyone is knowledgable and professional. They saved my dogs life and I would definately bring him in again. Everytime I called the doctor was helpful and really straight forward, I really appreciate hearing every outcome possible so there are no suprises.

I brought in my dog in and she needed surgery. The staff did an incredible job of keeping me informed on her status. She is doing well now. I am blessed to have met Dr. Lichtenberger and her staff. Thank you for your care!

This hospital has compassionate care and got my dog through this very difficult week. I am very impressed with this facility and the deep respect and kindness they showed. Our dog was a loving, loyal companion with an exuberant spirit. We are sorry that she isn’t here to thank this facility herself.

I visited Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals last week and my pet was hospitalized for a few days. She saw a few Doctors while she was there but 2 stood out to me and they would be Dr. Lichtenberger and Dr. Jochman. They were both very compassionate and knowlegeable about her disease. She had been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and was having a very dificult time breathing. In the end, we were able to spend the last few hours holding her. Thanks to those Doctors we were able to extend the time we had left with Roxanne. Thank You So Much Dr.Jochman and Dr. Lichtenberger.

Please read entire review. A few months ago my adult son’s small dog broke her leg in an accident .He took her to her regular vet. They referred him to the Milwaukee Emergency Hospital . They called to let them know we were coming. We sat for almost two hours because the Drs were getting awards at some luncheon and it was running late. Something they could have told us when we called. By the time the vet got there the morphine had worn off and this 16 lb dog with a badly broken leg had tears coming out of her eyes and she was whimpering. The vet then examined her he said it was a bad break and she would need surgery ASAP. We were told it would cost around $4,200 for everything including 24 hour care. My son told them he had $1,600 could they accept that then take payments. They said no he would have to apply for credit. He has never had a cc or loan so of course due to no credit history he was denied. He asked if they could at least give her something for the pain he had enough for that. They told him they could not do anything until they have at least $3,000 up front. After he was denied the last application they said we would have to take her and find a more affordable vet. I told them I transferred money to my checking but it will be about 45 more minutes till it posts. Then I will use my debit card. They were going to make us wait the 45 minutes so I just left and drove to my bank instead. All this time this poor little dog was in extreme pain we could hear her crying. They told us her surgery would be around 8 am the next morning. We could see her after. We called a few times they were very rude and said they were very busy and would call when she went into surgery they had no idea when. Around 1:30 they first took her into surgery. The next day he asked if she could come home. As soon as my son picked her up he got blood on him. They just said oh you want us to clean her up. He said ah yes please. Her other leg and bottom were sore ,raw and bleeding. They said to put diaper rash cream on her bottom. She was so sore she could barely walk and not just because of the cast. They told me she urinated and it ran down her leg and she must have just laid in it. The more she went the more she lay in. They said to just keep putting destine on her. I have more than a few problems with this. One how dare they say they care about animals’ pain. That poor dog lay in pain for hours. They could have given her something for pain but they had to make sure they were going to get all $3,000 before they would touch her. Two we were told it was so high because there was 24 hour care they even said how she would be carried out to go to the bathroom. For her to be so sore and raw she had to have laid in her own urine the whole time she was in recovery. They didn’t even clean her up,. They are all about the money and no one can tell me any different. I was there. They were going to send this dog with her twisted leg reeling in pain home. I am disgusted with this place. If you love your animals you won’t go here.

Poor communication. My girl ended up having surgery and died 5 hours later. I called twice and they never told me there were any complications. I would have liked to be there to say goodbye. I found out later they were having problems with her since the surgery.. Why was I not informed?? She died In the hands of strangers instead of in the arms of her loving mommy... Id never go back.

NEVER go to another animal ER, I know I won't!!

I should never go on vacation. The trend seems to be, I go on vacation, something bad happens to my dog. It has held true with my current dog, and with my past dog... This time, my dog ripped one of her paw pads completely off, and split another one right down the middle. My dog, Nellie was brought to this ER by my very distraught friend who was caring for her. Dr. Gordon was the one who cared for my dog. He told my friend that he could not save the pad she ripped completely off. However when my friend came to pick my dog up, he told her he did save it, but did not know if it would take. Two weeks later, I am happy to inform you that he DID save the pad. Dr. Gordon could have easily said, nope cant save this, not going to try. But he did try, and he was successful... Another thing I want to bring up, is my poor friend!! She knows how much I love my dogs. Apparently, when she brought my Nellie in, she was very distraught. She was very scared about telling me. Dr Gordon looked at her and said " Believe me, you are not the only one here tonight with a Lab whos parent's are out of town". It made her feel better. Dr Gordon did not take the easy way out when it came to my dog, and he also was very sensitive to my poor friend!! My friend told me the staff was incredible, and the place was very clean. Then it comes to the bill. I was racking it all up in my head... ER visit, sedation, surgery... Man, this was going to be about $1,000!!! When I got home, she handed me the bill...... $387..???? $387??? I have no idea why the bill was so cheap, considering the care was anything but "cheap". I have experience with animal ER's. My last dog had a horrible case of epilepsy. We tried many medications, but nothing worked. She was in and out of ER's more than her actual vet. The bill to take her into an ER in order for them to tell me her seizures had now stopped, and there was nothing they could do... usually about $200.... If you love your animals, take them to an ER that actually care's.... The bonus, you do not have to sell your first borne to pay the bill!!! There is nowhere else I will ever go for my pet's emergency needs.......

Very Caring and Informative

In December 2009, my Princess had a Grand Mal Seizure. We rushed her to the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals because of location and were very satisfied with the treatment. The wait time was quite long, but the Vet was pulling a tooth and had a dog sedated so we had to wait. However, once Princess was seen Dr. Gordon was more than exceptional in knowing about seizures and talking over the tests with us and when he advised us she would have to stay the night for an IV with a high dosing of medication, he told us we could come back and view where she will be staying. The facility, even behind the scenes, was exceptionally clean! He proceeded to introduce us to the girl who sits back with the animals who are staying there and monitors them from her desk in the back, which is in the center of all the kennels. He then told us if we wanted to, they have open visitation, and we could come at any time, even 2am if we wanted to visit with Princess. He called as promised one hour after we left to advise us of her blood work results and I called in the morning to check on her and had a lot of questions, which he did not hesitate to answer, as he was full of knowledge for my questions. He took his time to explain the answers and I felt very comfortable. My bill ended up with a credit on it and was less than the quote we were given which was a wonderful shock. They obviously aren't in this for the money! They honestly care about our furry friends and I would highly recommend this facility to everyone I know with a pet who needs ER attention. The only bad thing I have to say is that I wish Dr. Gordon was a regular vet vs. an ER vet, as I would definatly take Princess to him on a regular basis. Thank you Dr. Gordon!
