Hancock Surgery Center

If I have to have outpatient surgery again, I will choose the outpatient facilities at Hancock Memorial Hospital over this facility hands down. I had a tonsillectomy, which is a fairly routine procedure. I threw up right before they were going to let me go home and I heard the nurse who was taking care of me say to another nurse that she was trying to get me out of there as quickly as she could, but I just threw up. Instead of having me wait to see if I would throw up again, they made me get dressed and handed me a little bowl to take in the car in case I got sick again. And I needed it. I asked a couple of nurses I know if that is regular procedure and they said, "You have 24 hours in a surgery center for same-day surgery. They should never have let you leave if you were vomiting."



Also, I called my insurance to make sure the facility was in my network and was told they were. When we got there, I was told I had a $125 deductible since it was out-of-network. If I hadn't paid it, they wouldn't have done my surgery. So I paid it. Now I can't get it reimbursed. It's been over two months since my surgery, and I can't get them to give me my money back, even though the EOB clearly shows that I did not owe a deductible.



So, I would not recommend this facility. I don't think they do things in an ethical manner.
