I went to this shop for the 1st time 2 days ago. Michael and Brian were friendly and helpful. I had about 60-70 coins to sell. Brian took the time to objectively grade and price each coin and explain any condition issues (I had graded and priced them before coming). Michael even called another dealer to check on a foreign coin he was not sure about. Not all grades were what I expected, but these guys are very knowledgeable and professional. NOTE: Do NOT expect to get RETAIL price when SELLING. These folks have to make a profit to survive too! I noticed they had a good stock of coins and supplies. I didn't check prices, but their bullion prices were good. I will be going back. I highly recommend Allouez Rare Coin Gallery

Stay away!!! Unless you enjoy being treated like nothing by an evil man!

Did not appreciate the way I was treated as a potential customer. I will take my business elsewhere to an establishment that appreciates their customers.

I have been dealing with him for a while and have found the experience very good for the both of us. I hear people complaining about his lack of humor, but being a business owner for years, I know that people do not understand overhead and having to turn a profit. If you compare his prices to other stores, his prices are extremely competitive.

I came in and introduced myself to Mike, he quoted me some prices on some American Eagle's which were fair. I was reluctant with him due to a previous encounter which I had that was also a very bad experience. Mike shook my hand like he was reaching for a noodle. I asked a few questions keeping a smile on my face the whole time trying to lighten the mood with him, which did not help. He was insulted when I asked him if his coins were certified, I must admit I may have been playing with him a little bit with that question. I asked him if he had any silver quarters, printed before 1965. With that question he took it upon himself to accuse me of wanting to refine coins. I have to say I was a little insulted myself with that one, but I kept on smiling and replied that I was aware that the act of melting down coins was illegal. Overall, it was like trying to talk to a 3 year old in an 80 year old body. Thumbs down big time. And it is no use trying to justify your behavior. I guess when you go into a store you expect to be treated like a customer. Its not a question of taking the heat, its a matter of respect. However I guess even the highest and most esteemed educational institutions can't teach respect.

Mike isn't a bad guy . He definitely knows numismatics and personally when I go to his shop thats all I care about. Sure people have quirks but at least he's blunt honest. It kind of makes the day a little more interesting stopping by. He does have a great inventory and can get whatever numismatic item you can afford. A knowledgable persons choice just know your stuff and it will be a good experience. JCJ

I am a Disappointed Potential Customer who wasted a trip to this establishment which poses as a coin shop. The previously posted descriptors; arrogant, rude, and selfish can't be emphasized enough.
I won’t be returning.

RJLocontofalls,
I assume that you're offering your advice to the 'pleasant' dealer Mike re the fundamentals of successfully operating a 'coin shop'.
"I guess the advice would be... if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, and, secondarily, if you don't have a sense of humor, then forget it. You're obviously are NOT a serious numismatist!"
The 'heat' = '50 telephone calls per day by idiots asking for evaluations on coins' = potential customers
The 'sense of humor' => needs to be learned and earned => respect for the 'idiot' potential customers
Perhaps he is 'NOT a serious numismatist', just a 'money changer'/'bullion trader'

Disappointed. Saw him at a Coin Show. He had a nice selection of grossly overpriced Morgan Dollars, however he was too busy professing his economic theories and complaining about his slim margins on bullion to acknowledge waiting numismatic customers. He’d do well to visit other tables to try to understand the concept of reasonable pricing and what the market will bear. Perhaps the of coin display was just a ruse, [a wily subterfuge].

The person who wrote "extreeemly rude" should go back to grade school and learn
how to spell (ie, it's "extremely"... with an "e" between the m and l). The triple-e does
not bother me since I understand your intent. I have my Master's degree, so I DO
understand things like that.
Michael Schiller is probably one of the most knowledgeable coin authorities in NEW
Wisconsin, if not all of Wisconsin. His pricing is based on a formula which covers the initial cost of the item he is selling plus covering his carrying/operating expenses.
I haven't figured that formula out yet. Nonetheless, he carries the finest quality coins
and currency in the Green Bay area. You can also depend on his wide selection.
One last note. He might be rude &/or irascible (use your Webster's, IF you own one!)
at times, but I find that admirable and only have fun when I visit his coin shop. IF you
got 50 telephone calls per day by idiots asking for evaluations on coins, wouldn't
be irascible? I know I would be.
I guess the advice would be... if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, and,
secondarily, if you don't have a sense of humor, then forget it. Yoyu obviously are
NOT a serious numismatist!

Extremely Rude, Selfish, and Arrogant [has unfounded high self esteem]
More interested in making his telephone gold transactions that serving potential customers in the store
Has a few nice specimens, but priced to obviously not sell ... just show
His mother mis-named him, it should have been Richard

I will not waste your time with all the bad things but I,ll put it this way if I had to use this store for all my coin collecting I would collect stamps.RUDE is just one word for this guy.

Mike is belligerent but knowledgable. At a coin show he showed me a coin he was selling. He said that he won the coin on the ha.com website. Afterwards i checked heritage auctions archives only to find out that he added 1000+ bucks to the coin at the coin show. Buy on ebay or from other collectors. Just a thought. -carl

I have delt with mike for a long time. He can be rude and egotisticol. He will not dinker in his prices. He`s very cut and dry. If you can get past his cut and dry attitude he will treat you very fair. 1 last note. 1 day he can be very friendly. The next be short and a little rude. But you can`rt find a better dealer in Green bay.

I walked into this coin shop looking forward to doing some business. Michael was going on and on about some car he bought to a couple of guys in the shop and took little interest in my presence. I waited patiently for 45 minutes until he attended to me. He quoted me a few prices which were at the high end of retail. I said that wasn't going to work for me, and he got in my face about "wasting his time". He spent about three minutes after I had waited for 45! Who's time was truly wasted?? It was a terrible experience. I have never been treated so rudely at any shop -- coin or otherwise. Too bad. Big, fat thumbs-down!
