Glaucoma is a vision threatening disease that is the second leading cause of blindness in the US. When a person develops glaucoma, the intraocular pressure (fluid pressure inside the eye) becomes elevated and causes the optic nerve in the back of the eye to gradually loose its fibers and if not treated, to die (i.e. untreated glaucoma can cause blindness). Unfortunately, the disease does not manifest itself until its late stages and a person can live with glaucoma for a time without noticing symptoms while the disease causes the damage. Diabetic Retinopathy
Millions of Americans each year face vision loss related to diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy is diabetes related damage to the blood vessels that supply oxygen and nourishment to the light sensitive tissue on the back of the eye - retina. The condition may result in accumulation of fluid (edema) in the retina, hemorrhages and leakage of other blood proteins in the back of the eye, and obstructed vision. In the more advanced stage of diabetic retinopathy, lack of oxygen to the retina causes the spread of blood vessels with faulty walls that can result in profuse bleeding in the cavity of the eye that may even result in retinal detachment.

Ultrasound
Phacoemulsification. This is when Dr. Svetlana Tsipursky makes very small incision in the side of the eye, inserts an ultrasound probe, divides and removes cloudy masses and inserts a clear intraocular implant (IOL). The power of the implant is calculated individually before surgery. There are implants that can also correct astigmatism (Toric IOL) or provide distance and intermediate vision (Multifocal IOL or Crystalens). Usually the procedure is done under "twilight" IV sedation, with no injections around the eye.

Plastic Surgeons

Botox
Botox relaxes kinetic wrinkles, i.e. those caused by muscles responsible for facial expressions (frown, smile, surprise, etc.). Depending on the extent and depth of wrinkles, women normally require 30-50 units in one session, while men, whose muscles are stronger, require 50-80 units to relax wrinkles of forehead, frown lines and "crow's feet". Sessions may be repeated every 3-6 months.
Eyelid Surgery

The procedure may also be covered by insurance, but that varies by plan.
