Established in 1925, is a vital nexus of entertainment, commerce and civic activity. Located in Glendale, Calif., its program offerings range from classical, contemporary and world music concerts, to film screenings, live theatre and stand-up comedy. The theatre also hosts award shows, fundraisers and a variety of other special events and frequently serves as a location for television, commercial and film productions. Moreover, Alex Theatre is a venue for community groups, film shoots, civic events, and local business uses. It has been serving Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, Glendale Youth Orchestra, Alex Film Society, and Musical Theatre Guild.

I went to the Alex Theater on a field trip with my daughter to see the Nutcracker performance. What a great show. It's a beautiful theater inside and out. Park across the street at California, because they validate your ticket and you only have to pay $1. Otherwise parking is very expensive in Glendale.

Nice, intimate theatre in the heart of downtown Glendale. I've seen various shows here and I enjoy the venue.

Is this a place to go for mainstream movies? Of course not! But if you like local events, touring shows and interesting talks, this is a charming and comfortable theater with good lighting and a very pleasant atmosphere. I've never had a bad time at the Alex!
