        Overall

        I've hired Darden twice and highly recommend them. Their electricians are always very prompt and courteous and do outstanding work!! The receptionists are also great. They beat their competitor Mxxxstone hands down and are very ethical, unlike "M" who I will never use again. I will always use Darden for all of my electrical needs.

        Questionable business practice

        Darden Electric quoted me $95/hr with a minimum of an hour plus materials to install an outlet. The appt was from 8-noon. At noon, I called to ask if they were even going to show. The electricians arrived at ~12:30 and was done in less than 15 mins. They were really fast. I received the bill four months later for $160. When I called to ask why so high, they lowered it to $120. Again, I question how they arrived at that charge. They said that their electricians were at my house for two hours.



        Lessons to learn:

        Make sure the electrician who did the work actually left some paperwork that verified the time they spent doing the job and the cost of the materials.

        We always tell customers there is a 1 hour minimum for all service calls plus the cost of materials. While Mr. Darden did lower the materials cost due to an administrative error, the hour charge for the work stands, regardless of the time it actually took to do the job. We do schedule all service work for 8am-noon, but when the techs are at jobs and time gets away from them or a job takes longer than expected, they don't stop what they're doing to call the next appointment. As the tech was in the neighborhood, he went straight to the home. Bills were sent numerous times and our office finally got a call from the homeowner indicating that she refused to pay for the work done in her home, even if the cost was lowered. It took several more months to collect the payment.
