Dental Examination
At Gardner Dentists, we recommend patients see Dr. Markway or Dr. Haworth at least twice a year for cleanings and complete oral exams.
X-rays
Oral Cancer Screening
Once you’ve been called back for your appointment, x-rays and/or photographs of your smile will be taken. A dental hygienist will thoroughly clean and polish your teeth. You'll then be introduced to Dr. Markway or Dr. Haworth who will get to know you and listen to gain an understanding of your dental and medical history. This is a good time for you to share any dental concerns or problems you may be experiencing. During this time Dr. Markway or Dr. Haworth will review your x-rays for signs of tooth decay, and bone loss. They'll then perform a comprehensive oral exam which includes checking the health of your teeth and gums, and any existing restorative work. They'll specifically be checking for areas of tooth decay, and tooth or gum abnormalities/disease. Additionally they'll perform a full oral cancer screening assessing your mouth, tongue, throat, tissues, gums, and neck. Our ultimate goal is to get to know you, obtain an overall view of your current oral health, and then diagnose and treat any problem as early as possible to prevent serious changes in your oral health.

Teeth Cleaning
Beth is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. She has a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene and a master’s in dental hygiene education. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team, promoting good oral health through dental cleanings, treatment planning, periodontal care, and patient education. She loves the one-on-one and educational aspects of her career, and enjoys learning new techniques. Her hobbies include quilting, camping, reading, and gardening.
Fluoride Treatment
Like calcium and phosphate, fluoride is a natural substance found in water and many foods. Also, it is added to tap water in many towns and cities. These minerals are important because they help maintain the strength of the enamel layer that protects your teeth from decay. In children, fluoride is critical to the development of permanent teeth.
Dental Sealants
Most adults would have far fewer cavities if sealants were available a generation ago. Basically, they are thin coats of polymer that are used to cover the biting surfaces of teeth in kids and teens. The grooves in the back teeth are more difficult to reach and clean. As a result, they are the #1 area where cavities are found. By utilizing sealants, Dr. Haworth and Dr. Markway are able to create a barrier that helps protect your teeth from harmful germs and bacteria. And, these sealants often last between 5 and 10 years.

Fillings
Veneers
Over the past 15 years, stronger porcelains and enhanced bonding agents have revolutionized the creation of thin facings that can dramatically enhance your smile. In fact, some patients are now candidates for porcelain veneers that require very little (if any) reduction of your natural teeth.
Crowns
Do you have missing teeth because of an accident, severe decay, or gum disease? If you do, talk to our team at Gardner Dentists about replacing what you have lost. With a full smile, you can enjoy a number of benefits, from a greater sense of confidence to a more youthful appearance and better chewing and speaking ability. Bridges
Also known as a fixed bridge, a crown & bridge is a custom-made restorative piece that replaces missing teeth. A traditional crown & bridge attaches to one or more healthy teeth with custom-made abutment crowns. Root Canal Treatment

Deep Cleaning
In more extreme cases, our team will utilize deep cleaning techniques to prevent the spread of the bacteria and any further destruction of the soft tissues around your teeth. This process is called scaling and root planing. It often requires multiple visits, but we enjoy a high rate of success. During each visit, our goal is to clean your teeth down to the roots in an effort to remove all plaque that is carrying the bacteria and irritating your gums. We may utilize a local anesthetic to make the process more comfortable.

Dentures

The difference is Six Month Smiles focuses only on the appearance of teeth in your smile zone and not on the position of your bite as traditional braces do. Moreover, Six Month Smiles uses tooth-colored brackets and clear plastic wires to move teeth, so these braces are less obvious than metal braces.
