Teeth Cleaning
A dental cleaning is performed by a registered dental hygienist or dentist and includes removal of plaque and tarter, as well as teeth polishing. The frequency of your visits is based upon your individual needs and oral health. During your visit we will update your medical history, perform an oral cancer screening exam, check your teeth for cavities, review oral hygiene instructions, and monitor your periodontal (gum) condition. Fluoride treatments are provided for children under the age of eighteen and for adults when appropriate.

Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back adult molar teeth to protect them from tooth decay. Most tooth decay in children and teens occurs on these surfaces and it is important to take preventative measures. Sealants protect the chewing surfaces from tooth decay by keeping germs and food particles out of these grooves.

Veneers
The appearance of your teeth can be enhanced through porcelain laminates, bonding, bleaching, crowns, or ceramic onlays. Porcelain veneers are very thin restorations that are bonded to the front surfaces of teeth and can be used to close spaces and cover stained and discolored teeth. Bonding involves placing tooth colored restorations.
Crowns
CEREC technology allows us to fabricate ceramic, mercury free onlays (conservative crowns) and full crowns in ONE visit using a digital 3D camera. This procedure eliminates messy impression material and temporaries. The enamel like material is extremely durable and long lasting. The polished restorations are fitted and bonded to the tooth and the whole procedure can be accomplished between one and two hours.

Root Canal Treatment
When the nerve of a tooth becomes infected due to a deep cavity or trauma, root canal (endodontic) therapy is indicated. This procedure involves the removal of the toothâ€™s pulp (nerve and blood supply), which lies within the root of the tooth. Many people believe that root canal means that the tooth has to come out. The tooth stays in and only the nerve is removed so you can keep the tooth. After root canal therapy, a crown is generally recommended.

Deep Cleaning
While seldom painful and frequently free of any obvious signs or symptoms, periodontal disease can progress, undetected, to the point where supporting bone is destroyed. Periodontal disease can start in the teenage years as gingivitis (inflamed gums) and advance to periodontitis (loss of bone and tooth attachment) ultimately resulting in tooth loss. Periodontal therapy, in our office, includes treatment such as scaling (deep cleaning), placement of local antibiotics (Arestin) directly into the affected area and then frequent follow-up and reinforcement of home-care. If the disease process is severe, referral to a periodontist (gum specialist) is highly recommended. While periodontal disease is caused by plaque, a number of other factors including poorly fitting bridges, badly aligned teeth and defective fillings contribute to the development of this condition.

Dentures
Dr. Conte and Dr. Green are fully trained and experienced in the art and science of fabricating dentures that look and feel good. Dentures require time and patience to make and no two patients are alike. Careful consideration should be given when choosing a dentist who will be creating your next set of dentures.

Dental Implants
Implants are small titanium posts that replicate the lost root of a tooth. The initial phase involves the placement into the jawbone. The implant will remain covered underneath the gum for approximately 3 to 6 months. The second phase involves uncovering the implant and then fabrication and placement of your new teeth. Oral Surgery
The goal of modern dentistry is to prevent tooth loss. When a tooth cannot be saved, extraction (removal) of the tooth may be the only course of treatment. Most surgeries are performed at our facility, however the doctor may choose to refer to a maxillofacial surgeon for more complicated cases.

Dr. Gabriel Conte received his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Johnâ€™s University. In 1992, Dr.Conte graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Conte completed a general practice residency at the former Nassau County Medical Center, and attends over 50 hours of continuing education yearly. Dr. Conte is dedicated to learning the most recent technologies offered in dentistry. Currently, he is an Assitant Professor in the department of general dentistry at his alma mater. Dr. Conte is fluent in Italian, and is married to Christine with a son, Luke.
