Overall

I wish I could give negative stars. This place has been horrible for as long as I can remember (over 35 years) and even though changes some surface things like website, etc., I see no real change in leadership or administration to truly value the lives of valley animals. Profit seems more important than their "mission." As the larges animal shelter in the valley this is extremely disappointing and devastating for the animals. You would think they would be the leader in compassion and aggressive in their fight to "prevention of cruelty to animals" but I don't see that as a priority. I can only hope the future brings new blood into this organization and they will no longer hide behide a facade of helping animals and a fantastic place for animals to be held and truly be honest with themselves about what they are, Animal Control, and start to focus on what should be a priority for them as a SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS, not just those animals who are highly adoptable and healthy but also those that require prompt medical care to either end or alleviate suffering. I just continue to be very disappointed by this organization and thier "care" of animals at their facility. The ineptness of the staff is seen over and over if you read complaints or speak with anyone who has been there to either reclaim or adopt an animal. The adoptions building is getting better but the stray section is disgusting as ever and I really fear for any animal who is unlucky enough to be housed there.

Don't ever step foot on the pr...

Don't ever step foot on the property.

It is filthy, the animals are not cared for well, and they have an 80-90% kill rate. At least 80 animals are killed a day there.

They receive $3.3 million dollars in tax funds from the citizens of Fresno city and county, and another $3 million dollars from begging for donations from Fresnans- yet, they offer no free/low-cost spay/neuter programs and do no real education. What they excel at is fundraising. Tell that to the 80 animals a day that are killed each day.

And now, they've decided they are tired of people asking them (Fresnans, rescues, and council members) what that 6 million dollars a year was being spent on, when they were killing over 30,000 animals a year, and doing nothing about offering spay and neuter services to reduce the numbers of unwanted pets.

Do not give a penny more to the old CCSPCA now that they've decided they just want to get into the 'closed facility' kill-shelter model designed to rake in profits.

Spend your donations on the multitude of no-kill shelters in the valley, instead, and adopt your pets from a no-kill shelter. If you want a list of all the ways the CCSPCA has betrayed the City of Fresno, its taxpayers, and the animals it claimed it was helping for over 50 years, you need look no farther than Google.

Hopefully, we can formulate a group to take care of the city contract the CCSPCA didn't want to continue, because it meant people would know what they spent their money on... and that group will be transparent and honorable.

Adopt your next pet from a rescue.
