Bio Alma Ball has been a Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) for over 10 years. She specializes in CranioSacral Therapy, Shiatsu, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, Swedish, Reflexology, Hot Stone Therapy and Reiki. As a CMT, Alma enjoys using her skills to bring health and wellness to others. It is her belief that our bodies have the natural ability to heal and bring balance to body, mind and spirit. Bodywork & Massage Styles CranioSacral Therapy CranioSacral Therapy is a soft touch modality; no more than the weight of a nickel is used to first engage the tissue. Delicate manual techniques are then used to release restrictions up/down the spine, cranium and sacrum. Clinical Massage for Automobile Accidents Clinical Massage is therapeutic in nature. Clients who have been in an automobile accident, and have chronic or acute pain issues can benefit from Clinical Massage. Shiatsu Shiatsu Therapy is a manual technique known as “One Point” or “Finger Pressure,” which is applied through specific points on the body known as tsubos, which eliminate fatigue and stimulate the body’s self-curative abilities. Shiatsu emphasizes correction and maintenance of bone structure, joints, tendons, muscles and meridian lines, whose malfunctioning distort the body’s energy and autonomic nervous system causing disease. Myofascial Release Myofascial Release is “the movement of contractile or inert tissues in such a way as to effect change in that structure or its related elements. Examples of the use of soft tissue range from facilitation of fluid exchange or restoration of movement in the acutely edematous muscle lesion, to stretching of adaptive shortened contractile or connective tissue. Deep Tissue Deep Tissue Massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Trigger Point Therapy Trigger Point Therapy requires identification of trigger points, deactivating and elongating the structures affected along their natural range of motion and length. Swedish Swedish Massage consists of five basic techniques: effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement and vibration. Swedish massage provides the ability to work on the client for both the purpose of relaxation and therapeutic goals. Hot Stone Therapy Hot Stone Therapy is applied with lotion and the use of hot stones. The therapist places the stones on the client on top of a flannel sheet. After the client is warmed by the stones, the therapist uses the stones to massage the client. This technique is both relaxing and therapeutic. Reflexology Reflexology is the rhythmic process of working the organs and other bodily systems on the hands and feet. Reiki Reiki works on the physical, spiritual, and emotional levels of aliments. Reiki involves the transfer of universal life energy through the practitioner to the client in order to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal itself through balancing of energy. Corporate Chair/Table Massage Corporate Chair/Table Massage provides hardworking employees with a convenient method of alleviating their work related stress. A 15 to 30 minute stressbuster massage relieves tension in neck, back and shoulder muscles, reducing irritability and increasing productivity. A portable chair or table can be brought directly to the workplace.
