While the kid that actually did the work did a good job, the service manager I dealt with Is the kind of person who will not hesitate to tell you everything that you were doing wrong in your life. The lecture I got for asking them to install something as simple as an alternator that I had purchased from Napa - (who supplies their parts), minus their outlandish markup, and my being perfectly willing to except a rebuilt part, complete with its own warranty, as opposed to the new one they wanted to sell me, with ITS mark up i.e. a 20% mark up on a $35 rebuilt generic unit is one thing, the mark up on a brand new Ford (Motorcraft) $250 unit is something else entirely… and even though I had already TOLD them I had no expectation of them warrantee-ing a part I got from somewhere else, I had to endure the lecture anyway, and be reminded of their suspicion that I had no professional diagnostic standing to suggest that the alternator had anything to do with the fact that the battery was not being charged, And that such a procedure might not solve any problem I had at all, and that they were certainly not to be held responsible if it didn’t. Further, they pointed out that the brand new battery that I had brought them my only serve to mask the problem. They made it very clear that it is not their normal policy to install customer-provided parts, and it was only out of the goodness of their heart that THIS TIME, since I had already bought the parts, had them delivered to their shop, and that they APPEARED to be the right parts to fit, and to simply accommodate the poor feeble-minded boy, they were willing to do it and not just show me the door. If that is their idea of Customer Service, well, they can keep it.
