I’m taking a moment to submit a review about my wife’s excellent disability attorney, J. Daniel Gregory. Freda now has been granted 100% disability by the Social Security Administration after nearly 4 years effort.

Why did it take 4 years? Because the first two lawyers we contacted didn’t have a clue, frankly. The first one was fired for being cruel to Freda, and the second one dropped us like a hot rock when we drew an administrative law judge he didn’t like.

Do you know what neither of them did? Gave us useful advice.

An acquaintance referred us to Daniel, and as soon as we sat down with him, he let us know right away that he was going to show us how to gather the type of evidence we needed to provide to Social Security. Not made up evidence; we needed to get the correct tests done that would definitively show Freda’s disability. She had had a stroke and multiple seizures along with chronic pain issues associated with fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. As it turns out, the definitive test for Freda was a psychiatric test that objectively measured how well her mind worked and showed that Freda had severe deficits in memory, among other things. We KNEW that, but we couldn’t PROVE that – until Daniel informed us of the correct test that would provide the solid EVIDENCE Freda needed to prove her case. With Daniel’s help, we didn’t even return to a hearing – the new case was handled administratively and granted in a relatively short time by SSA standards.

Would we recommend Daniel? Absolutely. We were blown away by his knowledge of how the SSA works, his aggressiveness (as a former prosecuting attorney if my memory serves) and his clear direction. We wish we had found him at the beginning of our efforts but we lived in California then and hadn’t made the connections that would lead us to him.

Mr. Gregory was absolutely wonderful. My wife and I had been battling worker comp since 2009. We began our Social Security Disability battle in 2011. Mr. Gregory helped us tremendously. It had got to a point that we were about to lose our car and home. When I was hurt at work in March of 2009, my wife was a stay at home mother. She instantly had to find work again. Not even coming close to the pay we were accustom to bringing in every month. Over the next few years we had depleted any savings we had, closed out all retirement accounts and took out a home equity loan just to pay our mortgage, car payment, insurance and utilities each month. All credit cards had been defaulted on. We had 2 teenagers and 2 toddlers at home. My wife was working 2 jobs and trying to take care of all of us. I will never forget her cooking the kids hot dogs by candlelight one night because our electricity had been shut off. She held it together and made it like a camp out inside. Finally got the kids in bed for the night and went to take a bath and I could here her sobbing in the tub. She was stressed but never let the kids see or feel any of it. We finally ended up moving to a small town, where I grew up and she got a job making better money with benefits. We fortunately sold our house during a good market and was able to make some money on it. Then Mr. Gregory won my case with SS and Ime and the younger kids started to receive benefits. But SS denied the back pay. Mr. Gregory continued to fight for us and in August of 2016 we finally were approved for back pay and should be receiving about $112,000.00 any day now. I had no clue attorneys were so nice. the first time I met with Mr. Gregory, he sat down and talked to me for over an hour, and explained what would happen, and gave me an instruction sheet to follow and advice on what to do.
then, before my hearing, he prepared me and went through a mock hearing with me. i woulda been so nervous, but the hearing was just like he explained.
then, after my hearing, he made sure i got all my benefits.

This lawfirm is great. The owner- Daniel Gregory- is a great guy, very personable, very smart, and he actually met with me face to face a few times throughout my case (good luck getting that with other lawyers). It sure was nice to see a lawyer face to face and get him to understand what I needed, and I was given that!!

At first, I was kinda worried about this law firm after reading the reviews, but I heard very good things about them from two of my doctors, so I gave them a call.

Let me tell you something- those bad reviews are probably from other lawyers who want to make him look bad. I personally saw Mr. Gregory's law diploma from the Univ of Miami in Florida (he graduated with HONORS), and he has bar licenses in THREE states (TX, NM, and FL)!!!

And he and his staff did get my case granted- it makes me upset that someone would want to talk bad about Mr. Gregory, cuz I have nothing but good things to say about him. Now, having lots of licenses and a law diploma with honors doesnt make him a good lawyer, but the fact that he gave me a face to face meeting with him within about 4 days after I called him does make him a good lawyer. He showed me what I needed to do on MY own case, and showed me what we needed to do to win. I also got to meet his staff face to face, and they always kept me updated on my claim. That also made him a good lawyer. My case did get turned down one more time after I saw him, but Mr. Gregory told me to expect that.

When we finally got in front of the judge, my court hearing didn't even last 20 minutes, and it was easy! Mr. Gregory and I went over the questions that he thought the judge would ask, and ya know what? Those were the questions I indeed got asked. The fact that he correctly anticipated the questions I would be asked also made him a good laywer.

Last but not least, he is a God-fearing family man. He told me his own personal story about his dad who is disabled, and that he would pray for me. Throughout my whole case, he was respectful, he was honest, he was considerate of me and my situation, and he worked hard (one time he called me on a Sunday afternoon at about 6pm!!). He also saw to it that I got other help after my SSI disability claim was granted (I got a tax break from the county property tax dept, and I also got some retirement pay penalty refunded from the IRS).

If Mr. Gregory wasn't a good guy, he coulda just went on and not spent the time to do that, but he did. Bottom line: he's a good guy, he's hard working, he's smart, and he's honest. And so is his staff! I don't know why those other jokers had such a bad problem with him, but I sure liked him, and I'm glad I didn't trust those other reviews. If you have questions, don't trust me or the other folks, just go see him for yourself!

J. Daniel Gregory is a wonderful attorney. When my Social Security disability benefits were denied, I contacted Mr. Gregory. He spent a couple of hours talking with me in person and listening as I reviewed my situation. When I expressed doubts as to whether it was worthwhile to apply for reconsideration after I was initially denied, he told me he felt certain that I would eventually be approved, and after answering all of my many questions, he encouraged me to proceed.

He went to work, and I was subsequently awarded the benefits. I could not have done it myself, and in fact, I really didn’t do anything. He and his excellent staff did all the work.

He made the appeal process painless and easier than I could ever have imagined! I will not hesitate to refer him to anyone who is applying for disability benefits from the Social Security Administration.
