General Info: Contango Oil & Gas Company is a Houston-based, independent natural gas and oil company. The company's core business is to explore, develop, produce and acquire natural gas and oil properties primarily offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and onshore along the Gulf Coast. As a recent addition to its business, it will begin acting as an operator on certain offshore prospects through its wholly owned subsidiary, Contango Operators. The company also owns a 10 percent interest in a limited partnership formed to develop an liquid natural gas receiving terminal in Freeport, Texas, and holds investments in the alternative energy venture capital market with a focus on environmentally preferred energy technologies. The company has approximately 14.7 million shares of common stock outstanding, plus an additional 2 million shares reserved for issuance upon conversion of the company's Series D convertible preferred and the exercise of options and warrants outstanding.
